Has any had a thermal imaging survey of their home?

I'd like to get a thermal imaging survey done to show where my home is losing heat (pretty sure I know, but would like it confirmed before investing in solutions). I googled it, and there are many providers offering the service. Presumably some are better than others, so I'll need to wafe through reviews. But headline costs seem to be £350ish, which makes me wonder how much the cameras are to buy - it can't be that hard to DIY as some councils seem to be loaning out the cameras.

If you have any insight or experience to share that might help me, I'd love to hear from you.

I haven't, but I imagine it would be equal parts fascinating and deeply alarming.

Following as we are considering this too

I'm on a waiting list with Octopus to loan a camera for this.

Having a vague knowledge of this through work, I'd say you'd also be paying for the interpretation of the images - it's not as clear cut as it looks, particularly for things like glass and so there would be benefit in hiring someone against just getting a camera yourself, even if it was a similar cost

Yes, I had one done a few years back. Had done a massive renovation on a detached house and added well over the building regs spec of insulation. Did out utmost to seal all gaps. New high quality aluc / wood windows.
The survey showed very little heat leakage.
We had to turn on every radiator for twelve hours prior to the test to ensure the building was up to maximum heat. Only one small area of heat loss was spotted.
Unfortunately, all this gave us no further answers. As when it was windy weather the house was difficult to heat / retain heat. In still cold weather all that insulation was more effective.
So, no firm conclusion I'm afraid!

I know this start up and would recommend thermafy-eco.com/products/thermafy-home-survey

Depending on where you are, there may be a local environmental group who can lend you one or do a survey- I'm in Oxfordshire and our group has one which I use to give basic advice to people locally.

I’ve been wondering this for a while and would love to do it.
