C-Section vs Vasectomy recovery.

I need someone to explain to me 😂

I had two C-Sections, advice as the same: Don’t lift anything heavier than the baby and the quicker you get moving the quicker you will heal. They want you up and wandering around 12-24 hours after the surgery.

DP has had a vasectomy and Friday, he was wold not to lift the baby (or toddler) and to have two days sofa rest.

I know it’s sore, and I’m not necessarily comparing the two because I would invalidate his procedure over mine.. but why are vasectomy patients told not to lift the baby and put their feet up for two days while post c-section recovery is to get moving and don’t lift anything heavier than the baby? In terms of seriousness a vasectomy is simple, c-section is major.. I think that’s why I’m a bit confused on why men get to stick they’re feet up and get all the TLC while I had to try and remind myself my intestines wont drop out while I pick the baby up 😂

I not bitter, honest! (Maybe I am!)

I think somebody is misunderstanding the advice here.

For a vasectomy, you would advise no strenuous activities/exercise, have a quiet few days at home watching TV etc, ie don’t play in that five a side match on Saturday. Not “lie on the sofa like a dying swan, making your wife wait on you hand and foot”. It is day surgery, they are meant to get up out of bed immediately post-op and get on with things. They can definitely cook, dust, hoover, iron, do the washing up, help with the kids, etc.

For c-sections, the advice is to get up out of bed asap and keep moving, because this reduces the risk of clots and honestly keeping active helps with the pain. But you are told no exercise for at least 6 weeks, no driving, no heavy lifting. So far more restrictions.

It sounds like your DH is milking it, tbh.

Dh walked home from his vasectomy on Saturday morning and was back at his desk job with a 30 min driving commute on the Monday.

No way is someone doing that after abdominal surgery.

Exactly this….
Have you seen an advice sheet given after the snip or was it just his relay of information.. 🙄

I’m going to be generous and say I think there have been some crossed wires and your DH has “misinterpreted” the aftercare advice.

There's a 38 of booklet for having a vasectomy? Fml

Gravity is really bad for the balls post v, you are supposed to lie down as much as poss. Yes c section much more serious of course, but they are not comparable surgeries.
