Advice on buying a tv

Fieldoftrees · 11/12/2022 02:33

The TV is broken and I would like to buy a TV for watching movies over the Christmas.

I am stuck between a 32 inch or a 39 inch size.

Is size import for TV?

Any other advice. There is so much available in tvs now. I have a budget of 300

When my current tv breaks I am not getting another one.
I'll replace it with a projector & have the wall space back.
TVs dominate the room & you end up arranging the room to centre the tv.

We only use it once a week for most of the year to do a movie night though, so if you watch more often that might not suit you.

Led, Oled, Qled - it's all a minefield. A lot of the Qled is out of my budget range.

That sounds lovely. I would live something like that but unfortunately I am shopping with an aging parent in mind too. She wouldn't know how to operate anything like that. I will have to go for an ordinary TV.

Go as big as your space or budget will allow. 32" is really too small. (Who thought we'd ever think that. We thought our 24" was massive. Lol.) You should be able to pick up a 43" within your budget. You won't regret it and it's better for your mum.
For 300, I doubt you'll get either an oled or qled.

Thanks for your reply. I am glad I read here before making my final choice and decision. I had a 32 inch picked out. I changed my mind and went for a 39 TV. I found a smart TV on offer and good value with a lot of what I am looking for in a TV.

I was looking at 43 inch tvs but there wasn't a lot within my budget. There were a few but they were limited. I feel a 39 inch is a good compromise. I hardly ever get a chance to watch TV except for once a year at Christmas so it's more than enough. I am looking at a swivel stand on amazon now that will boost up the TV and allow me to have the tv stand at and angle and line it up with the couch and bring it forward and closer. That will make it better and more suitable.

I did the calculations of the TV and the amazon stand and I wasn't able to find a 43 inch within that price either.

Thank you for the reply.

Glad I helped. You've definitely gone right going bigger. Initially you'll be shocked by this massive black screen in the corner of the room lol, but you'll soon adjust. And actually a 39" isn't that much smaller than a 43" because of it being measured diagonally.
Enjoy your Christmas watching. x
