Impossible gift from FC - a parasaurolophus costume

Somuchgoo · 10/12/2022 20:49

My 3yo is obsessed with parasaurolophus dinosaurs. She's has now said she wants a parasaurolophus costume for Christmas.

I can't find one anywhere, so I thought I'd see if the great hive mind of Mumsnet can help.

She's had a horrendous year, and so I want to do whatever I can to fulfill this request.

Oh ignore me I thought this was a duckbill

frostyfours · 10/12/2022 22:46

Ooh it is a type of duckbill? That book is amazing anyway. Recommend.

Your daughter sounds great. My 3 year old DD is also Dino obsessed, but is partial to sauropods, a bit easier to source!

I did a search in the natural history museum shop but only found 3 Dino costumes, none quite what you're looking for.

I'm assuming you've already seen this, but on the off chance you hadn't...

this parasaurolophus mask is on south African amazon for SAR80 which isn't very much in £ www.amazon.sa/-/en/HugOutdoor-Parasaurolophus-Dinosaur-Halloween-Decoration/dp/B0B3RR96SW but not sure about delivery. doesn't seem to exist on uk Amazon.

FaazoHuyzeoSix · 10/12/2022 23:45

Not costume related, but I've just found this.

I'd regret buying her a parasaurolophus that's bigger than her right?

It's 95cm tall

Take the stuffing out and there's your costume

Currently out of stock unfortunately but maybe for her birthday if it's later in the year? www.halloweencostumes.com/kids-parasaurolophus-dinosaur-costume.html

Weepingwillows12 · 11/12/2022 08:41

This is bringing back memories of needing to find a remote controlled spinosaurus for my 4 year old many years ago. I did it but it was hard work finding one. He doesn't like dinosaurs anymore 😭

Closedlips · 11/12/2022 08:46

Ours are big fans of the Dino Dana series on Prime, and this Etsy seller has different patterns so may be able to help www.etsy.com/uk/shop/FeltCraftPatterns?ref=simple-shop-header-name&listing_id=1291126188

Could this be adapted?

I think for shape and colour I'd buy this one, trim the spines and add a crest. It would be a simple hand sew and all soft, rather than glueing foam or anything.
