I'm looking for a laptop for 13 year old DS for Christmas but am technologically illiterate. Have a budget of £200-250. Can anyone give me any pointers on what I need to look for or any recommendations please?
Thank you

www.hotukdeals.com/share-deal-from-app/4046311 Looks alright. Good processor and an ips screen. You can buy a stick of RAM and add in to spare slot (will have to remove bottom of laptop or access hatch by undoing some screws) to make it more usable for multiple applications at a time.

This was me a Christmas ago. Minimum 8gb, and i6 or i7 Intel processor, I think, was recommended, for speed mainly. Storage I think was 1 TB but he could get by on less, most things are on a cloud.

Good luck 😊.
Also get the biggest screen you can, I think 15 inches is what our has. But smaller than that can be too small.

Go on the Dell website, i wouldn't touch PC World with a barge pole.. Dell used to do a student discount code but its xmas, deals will be limited.
I used them for the last 25 years for work (we'd keep them for 3 or 4 years) have one now and have never had an issue.

Your budget is unrealistic, you'll need to increase it by quite a bit so i3/i5 processor, 8GB ram and a solid state drive (ssd) no moving parts and therefore very robust for a teenager.... get a good one now and it will last him until 6th form or beyond.

Not all laptops can take more RAM or even be accessible plus you'll void the warranty.
