Mould on windows

We're in a new build and have black spots of damp/Mould on the surrounding recess and window cill. Is this normal? Should I be getting up early and wiping the windows down every day? I've opened the trickle vents and closed them - neither works. I've opened windows at the weekend even though it's bloody cold and that doesn't help. What am I doing wrong? If there's nothing else to I can do to help do I have a worthy complaint to go back to the developer with? TIA

Does anyone know what to do about black stains (from mould) on sealant around windows? I’ve cleaned all the mould off

Try that Dettol spray I posted a link to above. I left it on overnight and it got rid of black stains on sealant around my sink.

I have just brought a window vac in the black friday sale. After my morning bath I go round the whole bathroom, walls, ceiling floor if there are wet foot prints. Then I do all the windows. I use the vac then wipe down with a spunj cloth. It is amazing how much moisture it is collecting and it does take me long to do. I then run the dehumidifiers.

We have recently bought a Karcher window vac and it is making such a difference.

If you have to dry washing indoors, run a dehumidifier to catch all the moisture.

I dry washing indoors. I can’t afford and don’t like tumble dried clothes anyway. they are on an airer in a larger room with an open chimney breast and air brick. never had mould in that room. We do open windows but short amount of time atm as it’s been -5 at times. We close doors to keep heat in. Humidify was higher at 70 but now has dropped to low 50s at winter progressed.

We’ve had a very cold December. However no mould as heating a bit! We only ever get it when the temp drops in winter in the bedroom when no heating early on in the season. We treat it and it doesn’t come back. The only room that condensates is the bedroom. I just wipe it.

Activities such as bathing, showering, cooking, boiling kettles, drying wet clothes inside, breathing etc all produce moisture. If this isn't removed by efficient ventilation or dehumidifying, condensation and mould will build up.
