Yes, we do have Google where I live, but i can't find these. I'm trying to work out what the little two-pronged fork and tiny spatula are for. Any ideas? I've put them next to other cutlery so you can get the sense of how small they are.

The two pronged one is for pickles, I think.

PlaitBilledDuckyPuss · 10/12/2022 10:43

Snail fork?

glamourousindierockandroll · 10/12/2022 10:43

I think they're for cheese

we used to have a carving knife and fork with two prongs so the fork held the meat/joint while you carved

dudsville · 10/12/2022 11:25

It's really tiny @flatpack1 , and they came as a set @PlaitBilledDuckyPuss so I think their more serving than eating utensils possibly? Pickels fork is a good call @AtomicBlondeRose . I wondered about cheese @glamourousindierockandroll , but they're so tiny I can't see how they'd be practical.

Oh yeah if its tiny I would say pickle fork too

Clarabellawilliamson · 10/12/2022 11:39

I think pickle fork too, or if they go together then maybe for cakes or gateaux serving?

I really like the set! Is it vintage or modern? Would it go in a dishwasher?!

notasoldasiseem · 10/12/2022 11:40

I'd say they are salad servers.

dudsville · 10/12/2022 11:44

I can't express how tiny they are. Those are teaspoons above them. I'll measure them...

The fork will be for pickled gherkins, olives, that sort of thing.

The slotted spoon is likely to be for pickled herring. Or piccalilli/chutneys/other such condiments.

Villagetoraiseachild · 10/12/2022 11:50

Oooh, interesting! From the shapes I would say the fork is for spearing something small and picked and the other one with slats/holes is for draining off excess pickling fluid. But strange that it is flat, curved would work better, so I am probably wrong.....Or they are used together to spear and scoop, while draining fluid. They look beautiful, seventies?

flatpack1 · 10/12/2022 11:50

That was my very next thought too .....piccalilli or chutney

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 10/12/2022 11:52

Could possibly also be used for a fruit course?

I love them, have a proper soft spot for vintage cutlery/serving implements.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 10/12/2022 11:57

Here are some of mine 😊

Herring spoon with plate

Carving set, sharpener, serving spoons pickle fork.

Nannydoodles · 10/12/2022 12:11

Are they Viners?
Looks like a set I used to have. I actually think the spatula/server is for lifting and separating cold meat and the fork is either for steadying it or stabbing your pickles!
My Nan had similar for “cold cuts”.

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 10/12/2022 12:16

I think olive forks, my mum had some

FetlocksBlowingInTheWind · 10/12/2022 12:16

No i take that back now I've seen the photo, olive forks are super tiny

dudsville · 10/12/2022 13:13

Thanks everyone, some promising leads here to follow up via Google now. And beautiful re @TangledWebofMincemeatDeception , i love this old stuff too @Villagetoraiseachild .

What i thought was mostly a set, I can see now have different wood grains. Larger salad serving utensils are just bog standard and only have a sort of stainless steel style set of numbers "18/8". The ones in question just say "made in Norway", so small fish makes sense of the spatula, but i shall Google to be sure. Then others are "Staybright", "firth staybright" and "glosswood sheffield".

@Clarabellawilliamson , aren't they! I'm too scared to try then in the dishwasher, so they only get an airing on special occasions!

Clarabellawilliamson · 10/12/2022 13:20

I'm now thinking either pickles and sliced ham server, or poached salmon....

I think they wouldn't survive a dishwasher either. They remind me of Christmas at my Nans house. Lovely.

alasangne · 10/12/2022 13:21

Mayonnaise scoop

WhistlingInWhistler · 10/12/2022 13:32

Google says Scandinavian flatware, which fits with the Norway wording. I'm going to guess at either pickles - picking up and then draining herring etc - or for picking up butter pats (in which case no idea on the spatula) Grin.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception · 10/12/2022 13:54

Oh if it’s Norwegian then I’d say definitely pickles and fish, respectively.
