Home projector

Does anyone have a home projector? I've bought a mystery crate from a local auction house (another thread altogether) and I now find myself the baffled owner of 6 fabric projection screens.

I'll probably sell them on but was wondering whether I should keep one for cinema nights at my house?!

Is this doable?

Just the screens? I know two teenagers who have asked for projectors for Christmas but not the screen as they will just use a wall.

We've got a projector rather than a TV. It's great, but expensive to get a good one. You get cheap ones that are fun for outside parties or background images, but for the cinema experience it would be an expense.

Thanks both - yes - just the screen in a soft pouch. We're a one tv family and thought it would be great for friends coming over/DD's friendship group sleeping over and a possible cinema type night.

I've googled a projector system and don't really know where to start!

My student DC and flatmates clubbed together to get one for their flat/house; they use it for streaming sport, films and gaming, straight onto a plain white wall.

What would I need? Projector and speakers?

Do you have a local Richer Sounds? The staff there are very helpful and they have a good range. Their phone service is really good too if you're not close. I've got a separate surround system so everything goes through an AV amp. Generally the sound from projectors themselves is rubbish, but it might be better on portable ones. Also not sure if some can be set up with Sonos/ Bluetooth speakers.

We've got a projector second hand from ebay. An older model from a pub refit apparently. I don't know the specs DH bought it. We use a a poster hanger instead of a specific screen as it was a lot cheaper. We plug the chromecast in or attach to a laptop to play and a Bluetooth speaker for the sound.

I have one, but haven't used it lately as there hasn't been anything we wanted to watch cinema style. Got it with my leaving present money as I would no longer be able to use the whiteboard. I have added speakers, and a sale price John Lewis sheet (£10) as the screen, and hitch it up to a laptop. I believe I have also hitched it up to the TV recorder. I'll have to check the cables and the manual. The sheet is hung from a length of plastic moulding from B&Q, with another length threaded through the hem - it needs spraying after being stored rolled up under the sofa to get the creases out. I was also able to get a secondhand projector stand from Oxfam or similar. I'll need to get it running again for Avatar 2, I think. It's worth having.

Biggest group yadda yadda! I want to make a cinema experience for my daughter coming up to Christmas. I’d ideally like one that would work on WiFi, be compatible with Netflix, sky and tv Chanel’s etc. I don’t want to spend a lot of money. I’ve seen some on Amazon, Temu and SHEIN. I don’t want to spend any more than £90. Do any of you have any recommendations?
