Rude woman at theatre

last night DD and I went to the theatre and very close to the stage for once. In the row ahead of us were a group of women I’d say on their fifties (so about same age as me) and one of the woman put her drink on the stage (small theatre) at which point the usher asked her to move it. She did but looked pissed off.

At the end of the show she did the same thing and the same usher asked her to move her drink again and the woman just went off at her and some how tried to make that the usher was in the wrong, even though she had politely explained it was because if it knocked over it could break the lights.

I think she was a bit pissed and probably a bit embarrassed for being pulled up again but obviously neither an excuse but honestly why do some people need to be so bloody rude?

Ha, that’s quite a long post about someone I don’t know 😂

Sounds like it would be best if drinks can’t be taken into the theatre.

Looking back I’m sure DD said we weren’t allowed to but lots of people did so am sure you were allowed to.

I’m always amazed that drinks get taken into the theatre and snacks. The mess that is left behind after every performance is awful. It can’t be helped though either as there are never any bins in those places to dispose of your own crap.

It suited the woman to be selfish and disregard the safety of others. I’m sure theatre staff have to deal with things like this daily. There are a lot of people who are very selfish.

True. Also the usher was young, probably in her twenties so I felt the power balance was really off. Her friends looked mortified btw and had obviously really enjoyed the play because they’d given a standing ovation a couple of minutes earlier.

Eugh entitled selfish behaviour, there’s a lot of it about unfortunately. It might be my imagination but I feel like it’s getting worse.
