Does teething cause mucus build up in throat?

Weird question but has anyone experienced this, particularly with back molars?
DS is nearly three and they have been threatening to come through for months. They are his last teeth to come through. I’ve just realised that (aside from viral infections etc and other known triggers) he seems to get very mucousy and therefore have a mucousy cough whenever his gums really swell - they are like balloons at the moment.

im guessing this is a coincidence as I’ve never heard of it before?

Three years old? It’s a bit strange that- I’ve never heard of mucus with teething- sounds like an infection. Dribbling is normal with teething but my three year old is way past teething stages now- wish I could advise. Poor mite plenty of snuggles and calpol.

I would say it was an infection too but it’s on off for months. Yes, he has delayed eruption with his last molars so they’re coming in a bit late they’re usually in by 33 months at the latest according to the dentist and they’re nearly through now so nearly three months late
