Donating clothes directly

Does anyone know anywhere that's collecting donations of good warm clothes that will be distributed directly to those in need? I can obviously donate to one of the charity shops that will sell the items on, but it feels a bit better/more efficient if my old but decent coat goes directly onto the back of someone without one.

I'm on the Wirral/near Chester if that helps. Thanks.

We get occasional local requests - via people with contacts at schools, sure start etc. Maybe ask on your local Facebook group if there is any group currently collecting warm clothes.

I've given suitable items directly to homeless charities who do just pass them straight on.

Give your local woman's refuge a call too, often women have to flee with next to nothing.

I found mine through local Facebook. It's a charity that gives clothes directly to those in need messaged asking if anyone had anything.

Check your local library if it’s coats. Our local library has a warm coat rail for people to take one if they need.

Do you have any refugee charities locally? We do - they collect stuff like that to send directly to refugee camps overseas & to help resettled refugees in the local area.

I took ours to a project run by nuns who distribute directly to those in need. They have orders in many cities

That's helpful thank you. I don't do Facebook so that's a non starter I'm afraid.

The Salvation Army. They usually provide hot meals and food banks, and get to know the people in their area. There might also be local churches or other faith groups in your area doing something similar.
