Presents for team. Is there really anything better than chocolate or booze?

Or maybe biscuits or a plant?

I have about 10 people to buy for so £10 each is about the budget.

I can try and get thoughtful individual gifts, but I know some of them better than others and the ones I know best, I don't think I know on a choose something they'll love level. I know one runs, one plays golf, one is a foodie, I know how many kids they have and what their husband's names are, but I don't claim to be good friends with any of them. I do think think they'd want me to be.

So on that basis is it best to go for chocolate/wine/plant which shows little thought and which they may or may not like but is at least easy to pass on or put more effort into trying to do something thoughtful, which is also unlikely to be a huge hit?

Oh I like the idea of Panettone. If it's in a nice box, do I need to wrap it.....?

No, I don’t think you do.

Just stick a tenner in a nice card, bow on envelope, and a personal message to treat themselves to something they like.

Everything else mentioned is problematic for one or many, and vouchers have the denomination on them anyway. Take the easy route, it's the thought that counts. And it saves you hours in shops and queues and stress and and and.

Oh please not Costa (or other coffee shop) vouchers, unless you’re certain they use those shops.

Do you even need to buy them a gift? In over 20 years I’ve never had a gift from a boss at Xmas! The company usually gives everyone a hamper or similar but gifts within teams isn’t really a thing.

Someone will groan at this suggestion but I think book tokens are the best option. The less keen readers can regift...

I've changed my mind. Pens is the best idea! I've got a cupboard full of preserves, honeys and chutneys I've never used. I chuck it all out about every three years. Or... you could just give them the tenner in a card? Cash is a bit of a novelty these days...

Actually the first 50p with Charles III are in post offices now, obviously I'm not saying give a 50p on its own but it might be a nice part of a present. Can be kept or spent.
