Older women. Can you still remember what the milk let down feels like?

I just had a twinge that reminded me of it. Only remember labour if I get an upset stomach with cramps.

can you remember either feeling?

Don't think I ever had it? Breastfed 3 DC for a year each but never had anything like people are describing here.
I can remember labour pain and the memory still makes me feel a bit twitchy.

Itsoktogiveup · 07/12/2022 18:22

Yep

MillyMollyManky · 07/12/2022 18:26

Let down- absolutely yes.

Labour- I don't think so. I can imagine a painful feeling but don't think it's accurate. Remember in my second labour thinking "how the fuck did I forget THIS??!" I'd vaguely remembered the pain but the real thing brought it all back and made me realise how inadequate my memory was. That was after 2 years, and now it's been nearly 2 decades!

Yes, both, and my youngest is 20!

Emotionalsupportviper · 07/12/2022 18:31

I certainly do!

It's been 34 years and that felling of tightness round the nipples, the ache, and then the wonderful sensation of released milk . . . wonderful.

I can also remember the intense tummy pain as my uterus contracted - not quite to wonderful . . .

Emotionalsupportviper · 07/12/2022 18:33

Labour pain - no.

I can remember experiencing pain, but the pain itself is just blurry

Yes. I can even see the room I was in and the position I was holding DS in when it first happened.

DramaAlpaca · 07/12/2022 18:47

Yes, I remember both and my youngest is 25.

woodhill · 07/12/2022 18:47

Yes I remember it

Gatekeeper · 07/12/2022 18:50

yes to both and my dc are 20 and 18. Bliddy labour was all in my lower back and awful

IncompleteSenten · 07/12/2022 18:52

No.
I do remember the pain of my eldest using my nipple as a teething soother though.

ThatshallotBaby · 07/12/2022 18:53

If I hear a newborn baby cry my nipples sort of tingle Grin
I can’t remember the exact pain of contractions, I remember the sting of crowning though!

FourTeaFallOut · 07/12/2022 18:56

No. I never had any let down feelings, let alone pain. After pains though, holy hell, brutal and unforgettable.

OldTinHat · 07/12/2022 18:56

Yep and I'm 51 and last breast fed in my 20s.

LindorDoubleChoc · 07/12/2022 18:59

Yes I can and weirdly, occasionally if I see a very cute baby, I get that same feeling in my poor old redundant boobs.

Sparklingbrook · 07/12/2022 19:00

I remember the pain but not the let down feeling. ☹️

KohlaParasaurus · 07/12/2022 19:03

I can recall the feeling of milk let down very easily, but can't bring back the sensation of labour pain. Thank goodness. I thought I was going to die of pain with the next contraction, again and again and again.

Hopemax · 07/12/2022 19:07

12 years since I last breastfed and yes I 100% remember! Especially when holding a newborn whom I love/am related to, or when an unknown small baby cries nearby.
Thankfully no to the labour pains!

Justasec321 · 07/12/2022 19:17

How odd - I felt it today when a child was crying in the supermarket! I always thought it was only me and it was in my mind!

Thank you op for letting me know I am not bonkers!!!!!

EarringsandLipstick · 07/12/2022 19:29

I feel a bit emotional reading this & can absolutely remember both, tho obviously not the intensity of labour pains. My first two labours were straightforward, and quick, not painless of course but v manageable, luckily. Meant I was v cocky for #3... also a short labour but utter agony; I absolutely lost it, I still remember that feeling that I must be dying. Shudder.

ZebraLyghts · 07/12/2022 19:45

I'm BFing my 1yo currently but I don't think I've ever felt the let down, what does it feel like?

MadameSzyszkoBohusz · 07/12/2022 19:47

Yes, but I never found it painful or horrible. Just tingly.

Blueysparentsputmetoshame · 07/12/2022 20:04

Can anyone describe the let down feeling please, what do you mean?

underneaththeash · 07/12/2022 20:09

Hooverphobe · 07/12/2022 17:49

Urgh makes me dry heave just thinking about it. Vile feeling. 🤮

I'm the same, I can also remember the smell.
