Bristol MN which Travelodge

My son (3) and I have booked to stay at the Travelodge opposite side to the SS Great Britain. However on trying to find parking someone has reviewed that the hotel is surrounded by crackheads and needles. There is another Travelodge closer to Temple Meads should I switch to that one? I haven't been to Bristol (well I have but only on a stag) and so I'm not familiar with the area. I'm only there for the night in December.

Have you got a refundable room?

I'd pick the one near Temple Meads over this one. But I'd suggest the Premier Inn at Lewin's Mead as an alternative. It's very central and friends of mine stay there often.

Ibis on millennium square might be better? There's no cheap parking round there. There's a new car fumes tax come in recently too.

DisneyToDucks · 06/12/2022 00:16

Oh how much is the car fumes tax. Yes room is refundable. I've just booked something else with free parking near Cabot Circus. Hopefully that might be nicer?

£9 if you bring a pre 2015 registered diesel car into the clean air zone.

Do not under any circumstances stay at the Travelodge Bristol Avonmouth. You have been warned! 😯

DisneyToDucks · 06/12/2022 06:46

I'm glad I started this thread now I will have to pay the charge I have an old diesel car. Half thinking I might stop in Bath instead it is cheaper.

Premier Inn perhaps if not a suitable Travelodge?

MrsMoastyToasty · 06/12/2022 10:25

Bath has a clean air zone but I think it only applies to commercial vehicles. There's a dreadful one way system and expensive car parks though.
I live midway between the 2 cities in a town called Keynsham. It doesn't have any Travelodge or Premier Inn type places but it does have a couple of small independent hotels and B and B's. It's also got a station which will link you to Bristol and Bath in 10 minutes. We also have a massive park for the little person!
