In April next year for a 5 day break whilst work is being done on my property? I love walking for miles, being by water, peace and quiet with perhaps a spot of shopping and a meal thrown in! Within UK...

PS - relative is keeping an eye on the house! 😁

Northumberland Coast, beautiful beaches and walks, nice towns such as Alnwick and you could easily get to Newcastle or even Edinburgh for shopping.

How about the south coast? New forest
You're near enough to bournemouth for the beaches but have the forest too

What area are u in OP?
My preference is for anywhere b/w Plymouth and Southampton but open to anything else coastal, eg Norfolk, Suffolk, even Wales..

If the Highlands take your fancy, try this : www.sleeperzzz.com/

The Gower.

Anglesey. Maybe not much shopping except at Llanfairpwllgwyngyllroderchwyryndrobllllantisiliogogogoch but should meet all your other wishes.

I'd love the Lake District for that - lovely bodies of water, walking for miles (incredible views!) and the food is lovely, there's lots of incredible restaurants and tasty gastro pubs to eat in. Shopping I'd say maybe not the best (although Manchester is a train or drive away) but water, walks and food is definitely all there.

Do one of the many long distance walks in the UK - lots of people walk them alone. Have a look at the Long Distance Walkers Association on Facebook to get recommendations or just Google. There are lots of coastal paths around most of the UK, or things like the Cleveland Way, Yorkshire Wolfs Way, Coast to Coast etc. etc.

Walks with guidebooks have accommodation along the way and most of the well known ones have their own Facebook pages for research.
