DPD delivery

Just wondering if any clever souls here know if there is a way of talking to someone at DPD.

I received a text saying that due to the sender paying insufficient delivery fees my parcel is waiting at the depot for me to pay 2.99 or it will be returned to sender.

Normally I assume all of these types of things are phishing and ignore. I have just ordered a load of things both for Christmas presents and birthdays which fall
immediately after Christmas (five very early January birthdays- so inconsiderate!). So there is a chance that it’s genuine but I don’t know which parcel it might be.

I have clicked on the link but not entered any details. Ive had a nose around and can’t see anything that alarms me - it looks genuine. I’ve also gone direct to the DPD website and entered parcel details, as given in the text, from there. They aren’t recognised. But there is a bit about receiving a text and clicking on the link if there is a problem which is what has happened. So it could well be genuine and I need the things I’ve ordered.

What I’d like to do is get hold of someone at DPD to talk to them but there is no way of doing that suggested on the website. Any ideas?

100% scam

ApolloandDaphne · 04/12/2022 08:35

It's a scam. A quick Google will tell you all you need to know.

It’s a scam

That’s what I thought. It was because the actual DPD website does talk about receiving a text and clicking on the link that I started second guessing and doubting myself.

This is definitely a scam OP. You were right not to enter any details. If you go to DPD's website separately you can usually get to an email or live chat option but this is definitely a scam. DPD don't ask for additional postage fees, also the scammers will know that lots of people have ordered presents at this time of year so it makes it seem more plausible. There's a gov website and Action Fraud as well where you can report this number and help stop them scamming others.

(I'd add as well that the websites that are linked from these scam messages can often look very legit, I myself was nearly caught out by a Royal Mail one last year. Had all the official logos, same layout as the usual website and the only difference was that the url address had one letter difference, which I'd never have noticed when viewing the link via my phone).

Whoever has set up the fake website on the link has done a really good job. The web address looks convincing, (dpd.track-order.link/book_delivery.php?carrier=DP-jmOmSpIFNCyopdh&returnCode) (I’ve slightly altered that and removed some letters from the end so it’s not clickable, the actual website looks convincing (none of the dodgy grammar you usually get), I’m impressed!

I’m struggling to find any live chat options- I was trying to do that and use it to double check that it was a scam, and report if they were interested. I can’t find it which is why I ended up here.

Download the DPD app and look on there

I second getting the app, it’s brilliant and a good way to track genuine parcels

pinkfondu · 04/12/2022 09:02

Doesn't the dos website itself warn about these messages
