Hello, can anyone tell me what their experience was like with medical abortion through bpas at home between 6 and 7 weeks? I'm expecting the pills in the post this week and I'm terrified. I can't find childcare for my 3 year old either so I am wondering how bad the pain is and will I be able to cope looking after her? Is it better to put the pills in your cheeks or insert them vaginally? Please talk me down I'm terrified 😔 just posting in chat for traffic

I was told it was best to do the first four vaginally, and the second two under my tongue, in case they fell out too soon while bleeding. My experience was better than I expected. I had cramping but nothing bad enough to take the codeine they sent in the pack. I had bleeding for about a week which was heavier than a normal period. I’m glad I took it easy on the first day though, so you might want to encourage your DD to have a pjs and duvet day with you.

Thanks so much for your reply

How many weeks were you?

6 weeks x

KeiraMetz · 03/12/2022 18:15

Did you see anything resembling a sac / fetus? X

No there was nothing like that at all. There were some clots, but nothing recognisable at all, I promise.

KeiraMetz · 03/12/2022 18:23

Thankyou x

I need one last night. They say you won't see anything unless magnified so don't worry. I felt it pass along with clots about 5 lots and now just normal bleeding. The pain was no worse than normal period pain for me, just one sharp pain when it first started. I also had the runs and threw up but after say 5hrs it all settled down and I had a good night sleeps. I did the 4 tabs vaginally. I'll be honest it happened within 2hrs 45mins and lost so much I never bothered with the last two tabs I was scared of them making me sick. I took just 400mg ibuprofen and had a hot water bottle on tummy all night.

I think you'll be fine with your child with you. Just have to lay down for 30 mins if you stick the pills up vaginally. Maybe do it so it starts after they're in bed?

Had phone consult with BPAS pills sent and arrived the next day with Royal Mail even though they were on strike as was medical and special delivery.

christmastreetime · 03/12/2022 18:26

I was 7+5

KeiraMetz · 03/12/2022 18:30

Thankyou so much @christmastreetime

Was it the medication that made you sick? At least it was all over quickly, I hope I have the same experience!

I'm not sure. I had had very bad morning sickness but hadn't been physically sick for about 8 days. It was just once and it all happened very quickly so possibly. It was like everything released from all areas!

KeiraMetz · 04/12/2022 20:53

How bad was the pain @christmastreetime ? Hope you are ok today x

So I inserted the 4 pills vaginally this morning. I had some cramps similar to early labour, but they only Lasted half an hour. I've had light / moderate bleeding and only 2 tiny clots. Does it sound like it's working as I was expecting a lot more pain and bleeding? I've just inserted the last 2 tablets, so will update again later to let anyone who finds this in future know how I get on x

I think I passed the pregnancy about an hour after inserting the last pills. It was a large clot with a large yellowish blob attached, and I've had moderate bleeding and light cramps since. The whole thing was not nearly as bad as I thought it would be, I'd been really working myself up over this and it was honestly fine! Hope this gives someone comfort x

I’m going through this now, I’m having my consultation Saturday morning, I’m only 6 weeks as I had my scan today but I’ve been feeling so sick and dizzy i just want it all over, I really hope they will let me have the tablets so I don’t have to go in although I’m a nervous wreck about it all

GeraltsGirl95 · 08/12/2022 17:54

Are you going through bpas @Wobblywibblywoo ?

I was 6+4 and it was fine, can't believe I was so terrified x

Wobblywibblywoo · 08/12/2022 18:11

Yes I am they seem supportive which is nice, I’m really glad it was ok for you, gives me hope that it will be ok, everyday seems like an eternity waiting at the moment although I know it’s only a few days

GeraltsGirl95 · 08/12/2022 19:37

are you hoping to get the pills in the post? It took 2 days for mine to arrive x honestly you will be fine, I am really shocked at how easy it was. I thought I was going to be stuck on the loo with really heavy bleeding and passing lots of clots etc but it wasn't like that at all! Ive been able to go about my business all day, no pain apart from a few niggles in the first 30 mins. I even went to pick the kids up from school 🤣 have you already got children? Apparently it can be easier if you already have DC as your cervix takes less work to open

Wobblywibblywoo · 10/12/2022 10:11

I do I have 2 teenagers, I’m so pleased it’s not as bad as some of the horror stories I’ve read, I managed to get a cancellation appointment yesterday morning and I’ve received the tablets this morning, so fast I’m amazed, they sent them with dpd because of the strikes, I’ve just taken the first tablet about half an hour ago, I’m fairly nervous about what’s to come, I’m very hormone sensitive unfortunately

Confusedandlost1812 · 19/12/2022 20:39

Hi all, how long did it take for the pills to arrive by post please, and with which provider? Thanks :)
