He’s hard to buy for as he’ll just get what he himself throughout the year…

My DP also has a Dec birthday so has a few bits. A new rucksack, a jigsaw to do over Xmas, a couple of books, new playstation game, a long sleeve t-shirt and a cagoule type coat and couple of random stocking filler type things like a taco holder (which he wants) and some chocolate.

Set up a shared wish list on Amazon... he'll add what he wants to it, and that will include passive 'meh, maybe one day', all the way through to 'now now now!!!' pressies. Just pick and choose from there.

On mine I have casual comics, chocolates and drill bits, all the way up to bench planers and other power tools.

There may be guys out there that like socks etc (seems to be the go-to), but to me as a guy, they wreak of can't be arsed... the same way picture frames, candles and assorted soaps are used for women. Apologies to those women out there, my mum had a colleague who without fail would cycle these three presents and it's burned into my memory!

If he works away from home, maybe personalised calendars with kids pics?

Or if you're strapped for cash, coupons... including get out of argument free (my favourite one BY FAR), or that thing he constantly bugs you for in the bedroom (trust me, this one will be greatly appreciated)... of course it goes both ways... him getting up to a crying baby at 2am, massage, cleaning... I don't know, whatever takes your fancy.

I’ve run these ideas past DH and he likes all of them. I’m not surprised he likes the last suggestion particularly 😆

Bench planers is a great idea. We are getting a new huge shed so would be a nice addition

A GUL shorty sleeveless wetsuit... his request as he is a kayaker (racing).
We have a family agreement not to spend more than £50 on each other, and I got it for £49.99 :)
We used to feel obliged to spend a lot more, but it was silly as we didn't NEED stuff. Now DD2 does a list allocating us each two people to buy for (plus our partners) and it makes life a lot easier!

Sometimes two of us will combine if someone wants a bigger gift..ds1 is a musician and wants some guitar gadget for his studio so DS1 and DD2 are getting it together..

We also do the 'promises' coupons. :)

Marmiteontoastyum · 03/12/2022 21:18

Do you have a link to the hat please, sounds up his street!

I just found a hat with a light in on Amazon (I'm not in the UK so a link from me wouldn't be any good) but got a matching one for 3 year old DS too 😁 they will love to match.

soupmaker · 04/12/2022 16:05

A voucher for dinner and wine at a fabulous restaurant. It's for two so he gets to take me!

A book, fancy chocolate and that'll be it.

a north face Tshirt

a le creuset mokka pot

a ps5 game which I forget the name of

a weighted blanket

probably throw in some chocolate and/or sweets

Loafbeginsat60 · 04/12/2022 16:48

An automatic clay pigeon trap

Vintage whisky from the 1980s that he will keep in his man cave collection.

Nothing else yet but will get whisky glasses and things he likes in a hamper type thing.

ant1234 · 04/12/2022 16:52

My DH asked for:

  • some copper cooking pans
  • a new shoulder rucksack to carry our baby in
  • some scent from penhaligons

I'm not sure what that says about him...

I think I'm going to get him a smart felt/wool gilet and a pan (my god they are expensive though)..

Marmiteontoastyum · 03/12/2022 21:21

Ice bought DH lots of Star Wars lego which he loves but is it mean that I don’t want anymore ‘artworks’ on the bookshelf 😂 Theres no space for pretty candles and photo frames as it’s all lego 😆

My husband has dedicated 'display points' for the miniatures he paints. These are four shelves in the living room and he rotates what goes on them every now and then. It prevents clutter and makes a nice feature of the things he paints :)

Benjispruce4 · 04/12/2022 16:56

We’ve decided not to buy gifts this year. Been married 26 years and we buy things for each other when we see them throughout the year. So we are going to give each other the gift of no shopping stress.

LiveshipParagon · 04/12/2022 16:58

Mine has a birthday close to Christmas, so things are spread over both. He will get from me, my parents or his parents: cycling clothes, bike parts, pencils, chocolates, fancy merino socks that are way more £££ than he'd choose for himself, work shirts (boring, but he asked!), and a DIY hamper full of strange and wonderful foods.

MillicentMold · 04/12/2022 17:01

This is an easy question for me to answer.

Nothing! Me and DH agreed years ago not to buy each other for Christmas. We prefer to put the money aside for a long weekend break in the Spring. Suits us both.

Perfect 👌
