Playmobil pirates and desert islands

apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I’m looking at Playmobil pirate ships and islands second hand and can’t decide which has most play value for a just 4 year old.

Does anyone have the big ship with red sails, black sails or white sails? Does it have wheels? secret compartments or cabins? Are the sails fairly sturdy?

The same with islands, any recommendations?

thank you!

For all things Playmobil you need the advice of @Somuchtobits ! I’m sure she’ll be along at some point.

We have this set

It has rollers underneath, but can also float on water and is compatible with the Playmobil underwater motor. It has a treasure compartment, and concealed cannons which can be folded out and which fire rubber missiles. It also has an anchor winch and a functional loading crane. The sails are reasonably sturdy.

We also have this pirate fort (set 4294, the ship is set 4290)

The fort has a hiding place in the rocks, a working crane and a lighthouse which lights up.

This set (4007)

has a treasure compartment.

And this set (4139) playmodb.org/setpics/4/4139.jpg has rocks you can move to reveal a secret hiding place.

We also have some smaller accessory sets e.g. pirate row boat, raft, pirate gang, and a pirate captain (Admiral Lemuel Cuttlebone). Xmas Smile

Hope that's some help!

I found anything with sails/fabric bits annoying when my (admittedly lively) boy was little - the sails are sturdy but they easily come unattached and the plastic bits that hold them on are weedy.

We have a fort thing that has lasted well, similar to what @SoMuchToBits posted

Thank you so much! Really helpful. I think I’m going for an older ship model (5135) which has similar features to your ship.

I was thinking of an island but that fort with the lighthouse and crane is very nice and looks quite solid.

We only have a rowing boat and a solitary pirate so I will have to get him some friends and more treasure too.

My kid had a blast with a Playmobil pirate ship with red sails. It had wheels, which made it easy to move around, and some secret compartments that were great for hiding treasure. The sails held up pretty well, even with a lot of play.I also picked up a Drakkar Viking ship model recently. It’s a bit smaller but the detailing is fantastic, and it’s sturdy enough for a young pirate fan. For islands, I’d recommend one with interactive features like hidden caves or movable parts—it keeps the play exciting.
