My teens and their friends all have apple watches.

Can you get a second hand smart watch? Most of the people I know have switched to smart watches over the last few years

I think there are camps. People who ask for a watch don't mean a smart watch or they'd say smartwatch. Not everyone likes them.

Smart watched not allowed in school. They all wear Casio retro

I don't think that's true.

Especially youngsters who are used to smart things as standard.

My 13 yr old niece was shouting at my Anker speaker the other week asking for it to play something....it's just a Bluetooth speaker.

Very similar with watches. She has asked me what was the point of a "dumb watch" as all it does is tell the time. Face palm moment for me as I love watches

‘Use your words…’: who the hell thinks talking to someone as if they were three is acceptable? A patronising ti that’s who.

luckylavender · 04/12/2022 07:17

@SliceOfCakeCupOfTea - I really beg to differ. For some people a watch is still a timepiece. I know many teens and young people who don't wear smartwatches & many who do.

Yes Abraxan I was a bit worried when I saw that first comment that I had maybe made a terrible mumsnet error and was going to be in for a lot of criticism about what I had asked

Two Fitbit's here (smart watches allowed in school so long as notifications are off)

QueenMabby · 04/12/2022 17:19

In DS's school they've all gone past smart watches (at least in the 6th form) and are all wearing analogue watches.

gingercat02 · 04/12/2022 17:22

Mine has a fibit that he never wears. Phones are the new watches
