Help! Night time milk, nappy over night and leaks! - Potty trained

My 3 years old had leaky nappy incidents three mornings in a row. I had to wash and dry everything to keep up, not ideal in winter days!

I need advice on the right kind of nappy pant over night. Previously have been using Pampers Dry Size 7. But they are getting way too tight. So switched to Pampers Nappy Pant last night - worst experience so far: The borders are too loose imo and the wee just leaks whenever he moved and rubbed the nappy pant in bed. The entire left side of pyjama trousers was wet this morning!

Secondly, he's been having half mug of milk before bedtime since he quitted bf. It helps with better sleep, so I wouldn't want to schedule it to a different time. But now with so much wee at night that the nappy couldn't cope, I'm thinking what I shall do with the night time milk. Shall I reduce the volume of the milk (but this is the only potion of milk he has everyday on top of yoghurt)?

Would love to know how other people handle the nighttime milk.

Thanks.

Sounds like being potty trained now could be causing it . If he’s not peeing in his sleep but emptying a full overnight bladder on waking instead of two or three little wees then the nappy won’t perform as well as it doesn’t get a chance to wick . Put a disposable bed mat under him to save the laundry.
then check the nappy an hour before he’s due to wake up. If it’s dry then start him going to the loo instead of using the nappy. Both mine were dry at night by three and within about 3 months of daytime dryness and they never wet the bed ever. I got lucky , maybe you will. They soon get the hang of it if you wake them for a Wee for about a week.

@Scarywaitingtime Thanks for the reply. I guess I need to think about upgrading his potty training to the next level... Thanks for the tips of checking if leaks before morning time. Good point! I may need to take off the side of the cot to let him manage it in a potty at night now.

Yes definitely give him access to a potty or the loo. It’s scary thinking they could wonder about in the night and that’s why we are tempted to leave them in cots but at three he’s to big for that now. Mine hails from Nordic giant stock so by about a year was too tall to keep in a cot , I had to put him on the mattress on the floor. He never got into mischief in the night. I just used a slider bolt to keep the dangers of the kitchen and utility away from him. If he got up he only ever came to me in my bed. At two and a half he would almost sleepwalk to the bathroom about 11 pm and sway about eyes half open while he went and then wake up dry at 6:30.
daughter was similar too.
trust your instincts though they aren’t all the same :)

@Scarywaitingtime I will give it a try. It's truly perhaps the time... Mine always has his own idea about what he wants to do... So I probably would start with a safety gate on the door and a potty in the room to begin with... I think he CAN manage. Just me, been delaying it for the convenience....🙈
