How many Christmas days out are you doing with DC? Or pre Christmas breaks etc?

This year 3, one night out at the Christmas carols, one panto and one night time lit up walk. What about you op?

2020firsttimemum · 27/11/2022 19:12

DS is 2 and we only have 1 planned at the moment (meet Santa and a general event at the farm)

We're also likely to do a little village walk to go and see all the lights etc

We're so busy in December with other commitments too we haven't got much time! Plus I'm 28 weeks pregnant so trying to take it a little easy

What have you got planned op? :)

smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 27/11/2022 19:14

We did have just 1 planned which was a trip to chessington however DP is working at a local christmas event so weve been given tickets to that and then we won some tickets to the panto so have been very lucky this year and have 3 big events planned.

We’re doing a few different things including panto, light trail, winterwonderland.

Two - a visit the the local (crazily expensive) Christmas markets, and there's a local outdoor carol service which we always go to.

They also have a couple of things in school - they're all going to the pantomime, plus they're having a Christmas movie afternoon.

That'll be plenty for them, they get too hyped up otherwise.

elQuintoConyo · 27/11/2022 19:19

One today cancelled because the car broke!

Boxing day walk along a beach where they do a huge sand sculpture every year.

That's it. DS is 11. He was never keen on visiting FC, especially after one told him he looked like a girl with long hair, and he was spoiled! Jolly red bastard.

But December is always a busy month for us, and trying to squeeze things in is difficult and stressful. We feel jolly putting up the tree, opening the advent calendar and watching Home Alone.

HalfasleepChrisintheMorning · 27/11/2022 19:20

We went today to see Santa at a local stately home but cut it short because DS started coughing. Just there an hour and no outside stuff. We’ll go back in the holidays and do the outside stuff (we are members).
We have another day out planned with friends at an activity park.
We have panto booked for 27th.

mrsmarmalade12 · 27/11/2022 19:23

Visit to Santa
Christmas market
Panto
Light trail

It's actually ridiculous that I felt guilty about no light tour so that's why I booked it. I'm sure my parents never felt this pressure. In fact, I know they didn't.

dippdg · 27/11/2022 19:23

Only planned 1 but it's lapland u.k.

PurBal · 27/11/2022 19:24

None.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 27/11/2022 19:25

Panto and seeing Father Christmas- my yr 1 child doesn’t break up until the 22nd so there’s not much time to fill.
i have recently seen the lighted up Forrest walks but it’s a lot of money and probably not needed to cram in.

Illbeready · 27/11/2022 19:27

3 this year. Local light switch on with rides etc, polar bear express and a panto.

OneFrenchEgg · 27/11/2022 19:27

Theatre
Christmas Market with friends
Light trail
Theatre

^^ excl family get togethers

NoCoatAndFurKnickers · 27/11/2022 19:27

Panto and seeing Santa are all we have booked. We are going to a water park as well but that isn't especially Christmassy. I'll probably see if mine want to come to something at the church as well, like carols or maybe the Nativity.

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 27/11/2022 19:29

Not many! We have a panto booked for the 23rd but that's it so far, we might take them into London one evening as we all love a little wander down the Southbank!

My kids don't break up from school until the 21st this year so we really don't have many opportunities.

DenholmElliot11 · 27/11/2022 19:30

We're doing a lot less this year than we ususally do - just a 3 day trip to Lapland, skating at Somerset House, Carols at the Royal Albert Hall, wreath making, Santa at Harrods, Xmas Day Mass, Panto at Birmingham Hippodrome together with Birmingham Xmas Market and Illuminated Trail at Kew Gardens.

abblie · 27/11/2022 19:31

None 😭😭😭 my daughter refuses

3WildOnes · 27/11/2022 19:31

Ballet
Ice skating
Local Christmas tree light up
Carol concert

drpet49 · 27/11/2022 19:33

None

MooseAndSquirrelLoveFlannel · 27/11/2022 19:33

None, when the kids were little enough to appreciate it we couldnt afford it. Now we can afford it they're too old for that type of thing.

We'll do a nice walk on xmas eve but that's it.

bluechameleon · 27/11/2022 19:35

We had our town's Christmas lights turning on and fireworks on Friday night. Next weekend we have tickets to a light trail at a local National Trust place. We are doing Breakfast with Santa at a garden centre the week before Christmas and the inlaws are taking us to their local panto on Boxing day. We'll do a trip into London to see the lights at some point.

flowerycurtain · 27/11/2022 19:36

The only expensive one is Horroble Histories Horrible Christmas.

Other stuff would be walking round our town looking at lights, lots of carol/nativity services etc.

PurpleWisteria1 · 27/11/2022 19:36

We did loads last year to make up for the year before- panto, light trail, multiple ice skating, Christmassy shopping trips.
This year I’m scaling back-only doing one or two things - it’s just not special if you do it too much and the kids don’t appreciate it. Plus for a larger family it’s literally Over £120 to walk round a light trail

LondonLovie · 27/11/2022 19:37

Well school Xmas fair if that counts? The Santa visit, plus Grandparents are taking them to a panto.

TheGriffle · 27/11/2022 19:39

We’re doing 2 things. Going to the seaside for the day to look at the Christmas lights and decorations and shop in all the little quaint shops and a visit to Santa is booked.
