I’m always the first to give myself a hard time about the many things I consider myself rubbish at so I thought it’d be nice for a change to point out a couple of things I’m really good at.

I’m a great cook and IMHO I’m really stylish too 😊

So what are you good at (but probably never point out to anyone IRL 😉

You're all amazing!
@StrewthMarge - try harder! What would your best friend say was your best quality? I'm sure you're amazing too.

I'm great at harmony, both musical and household. I think of myself as the oil in the family machine. And I've just started a community choir!

I think I'm pretty amazing 😄

I've managed to run a successful business pretty much by myself this year after DH had to accept a job with longer hours and we could only afford a part time assistant. The busiest time of year has just passed and I coped with only 3 minor breakdowns! I have a part time job on top of this and work a lot of hours but I do a damn good job.

I had a horrible cancer scare early in the year and nearly had a nervous breakdown and have suffered awful anxiety since but get up every day, keep going and stay fairly cheerful.

I have raised 2 wonderful kids who are smart and funny and kind teens and never cause me any real trouble.

Even though I work long hours I manage to keep my house nice most of the time - I'd go mad living in a tip so it's very important to me.

We have also fostered 6 dogs this year and taken them to their new forever homes which has been immensely rewarding and a lot of fun 🙂

About twenty years ago I fell downstairs - banging my head all the way down - was in a coma for 23 hours. I had to learn to walk and talk again. 3 Years after that, I got my pilots licence ( Now lapsed as it's too expensive to fly !!! ).
My big achievement !!

Notsympatheticenough · 27/11/2022 14:26

I’m a really good gardener.

I’m good at asking the hard questions of people in authority (like the bosses at work, and others) without being arsey.

I think really hard about what presents to get people and generally it’s something they really appreciate and enjoy. There is no way to boast about this in real life as it will just make people think I’m talking rubbish but I know it’s true!

I think I'm you!

Hawkins001 · 27/11/2022 15:13

Not sure really, I do a mix of activities and try to be polite as best as and try to survive.

Bloody hell, that’s properly amazing.

I slogged through years of professional training while bringing up two children with difficult mental health diagnoses and supporting a husband who worked away all week and had obsessive hobbies at weekends. I fitted my life around theirs and somehow managed to build a professional career that was good.
In the last year the youngest child left home and I was head hunted by someone who watched me slog away years ago.
In my mid fifties I'm finally getting to stretch my professional wings and am earning a salary that has changed my family's lives.
My achievement is I'm actually brilliant at my new role which is a huge step up the ladder.

upinaballoon · 27/11/2022 18:30

I am a driver. I have been told that I am a very smooth driver by passengers. When I test drove a brand new car a few years ago the garage man who was in the passenger seat was quite impressed with how I negotiated a particular situation and commented on it.
My father taught me to drive, for the most part.

I’m patient and I think I have the grit to keep going when things get challenging.

I decided to stop drinking and I’ve been dry for nearly two years.

Slowdayinfleetstreetisit · 28/11/2022 06:00

Being dry for two years is a massive achievement.

I'm amazingly brave and push myself. If I look at all the things I've done that have stemmed from my ability to act and throw caution to the wind I feel hugely proud.

I'm very empathic. I make a great 'ear'.

I'm fast at getting ready!

I'm very organised.

Slowdayinfleetstreetisit · 28/11/2022 16:59

I wish I was more organised, although much more so in my working than private life.

What a lovely thread.

I’m a good cook.
I can draw and paint quite well.
I’m really good at my job.
I am excellent at finding things out.

belimoo · 28/11/2022 18:20

This is a nice thread! Erm, I think I'm good at being non-judgemental and putting myself in other people's shoes which helps me to be kind. I'm also quite bright but hide it a bit as showing it doesn't seem to make for popularity.

@Slowdayinfleetstreetisit do you have any tips for being stylish please?
