I don't think it is. I want someone to win by playing their socks off, not because someone else made an error and lost. It doesn't feel very sporting to want someone to lose, although in group stages a certain result can be preferable so your team progresses

My dgc is Welsh so I want both England and Wales to do really well.
I also have a soft spot for Mexico.

I think it depends why.

If it is so your own team can progress, then it's OK.

If it's just because of some generalised 'anti' feeling (like some Scotland fans when England plays?) then not such a good look.

It's different.

If I think this, it is usually because someone involved in the team, be it a manager or the owner, is an unpleasant human being or worse.
