Help me gain weight

I have just noticed how much my hip bones are sticking out and I am embarrassed. I never weigh myself. I was last weighed and measured nearly three years ago. My BMI was just about in the healthy range. I have no idea what I weigh now and do not wish to know. However, after looking up the physical symptoms of being underweight, most apply to me. I have cold extremities and suffer from fatigue and night sweats. I am currently wearing size 6 clothes but some are too big. I have eaten too much chocolate lately, to the point that I have developed a burning taste in my mouth when eating chocolate. Any advice on gaining weight?

Is your reluctance to weigh related to previous disordered eating?

It's not going to be easy to see your progress without weighing. The changes can be slow to see, if you are only looking at how your clothes fit.

I'm reluctant to suggest, for example, taking a bikini type photograph for comparison purposes.

What about weighing at the gym/supermarket once a month?

And I'd suggest trying for an appointment anyway. This isn't a routine appointment, it's 'unexplained weight loss'. By the time you get close to a GP it may have resolved with better eating habits, so you can cancel.

Underlying reasons need not be scary- could be thyroid, or all sorts of treatable things. Better seen than not, though.
