How to fix cold feet

Hormonal23 · 25/11/2022 21:33

I constantly have cold feet I’ve tried everything I can think of cashmere socks thermal socks proper Ugg boots 2 pairs of socks mohair socks big sturdy winter boots and nothing works. When I’m at work I sometimes put my feet on a water bottle to help. I’ve gone out tonight to the pub with boots and thermal socks and my feet where frozen. Im off skiing next year and can remember how bad my feet where many years ago. Any suggestions on what I can do to help them stay warm?

I suffer from very cold feet to and surprisingly found that changing my socks half way through the day ( or more often ) helped .
despite feeling cold my feet would sweat ( I am on my feet alot ) so my socks would be slightly damp ( urgh ) so putting clean dry socks on helps a lot.

Fleece insoles for your shoes really do help. And keep your ankles warm.
i wear thick hiking type socks most of the time too

Those hand feet warmers that warm up in the packets

i now carry spare socks in my bag! I only realised this a year or so ago and it’s a total game changer!

Thin neoprene socks for water sports. Discovered by accident when I bought a pair for beach walks, now I put them on whenever my feet are stone cold and won't warm up. Best for short periods I think, they're probably not great for wearing all day.

If you wear boots they should be a size bigger so that there is a layer of air between your feet / socks and the boots. If your boots are super tight around your feet, no air can circulate = less insulation, and it may restrict blood supply, resulting in cold feet.

For skiing, foot warmers as someone else has suggested. They stick to the underside of your toes and keep you toasty all day. I have really cold feet, and these work for me.

I carry around spare pair and a zip lock bag to put the damp pair I have just taken of in.
I'm surprised it just how different it makes me feel for the rest of the day.

Another solution is to put very thin panty liners in your shoes it helps to absorb any sweat but you need to change them every couple of hours otherwise your feet just stay damp.

The damp socks thing that PPs have mentioned - I now only wear bamboo socks, as they don't get damp like cotton ones do.

OP, have you tried layering your socks? Bamboo then merino/thermal might work. Also thermal or fleece insoles. You may not be able to get your boots on....

I have the opposite problem, my feet are too hot 🔥

If you go anywhere in the cold and are a spectator or just have to hang around, take with you or ask for some cardboard to stand on. My sister and I do this and it really helps insulate your feet from the hole ground.
