Glastonbury -camping options

Hi
So we're lucky enough to get Glastonbury tickets for the first time next year!

Just wondering if anyone has been and hired the pre-erected tents etc versus just taking your own? I don't mind what we do, but my boyfriend wants to take the stress out of putting up and taking down tent.
But I don't know if it's worth the extra money 😆.
Just after some viewpoints from people who have maybe done both.
Thanks

Honestly.. do the pre erected and if they have personal toilets then chuck money at that also.
Enjoy

Depends how much you want to spend! I’ve done pre-erected tents before and while it’s nice not carrying a tent, tbh you still have to take sleeping bag etc so it’s not miles better. I’d probably only do glamping again if it was the whole shebang - bedding etc - and it offered extra parking. The hardest bit is queuing to get into the main site, so for me the benefit is skipping the main entry queue and having a nearer parking space. We have coach tickets this year so planning on going main camping, figure the three of us will share carrying the tent and no parking benefit!

They're not inside the main fence but you do get your own entrance so there's usually no queues. Worthy View and Sticklinch camping also have their own parking fields so no queuing there either. At the end of the day it's a long walk back to the tent and Worthy view is at the top of a very steep hill so no real popping back to tent back n forth. I prefer camping right in the middle of the site so it's only a 10 min walk back to camp instead of about 30-40 min walk back to the tent but that's not guaranteed and you have to be at the front of the gate queue to get the good spots. Its also more lively and doesn't really go quiet overnight if that's your thing.

We've done pre-erected (Worthy View) and normal camping (although that was years ago).

Pros

Not having to take a tent. This means if you don't need to get there at the beginning of the festival to not get an utterly shite camping spot - so really good if you can't get there until the Thursday or even the Friday morning.

For Worthy View at least there is dedicated parking right next door - this was bloody brilliant to be honest - we got there late and still only had a max 10 minute walk to get to our tent. No schlepping hours across the site with all your kit. Plus you don't get caught up in the general traffic chaos leaving site on the Monday morning. And you can leave things you might need (wellies etc) in the car and just pop back to get them.

Some flushing loos and showers - but queues are terrible at peak times.

Cons

The queues for the loos in the morning were awful. Really awful - much worse than on the main site (think over 30 - 40 minutes at peak morning times). Apparently the ratios of loos were the same as on the main site, but it didn't feel like that.

You only get your tent - nothing else, so it is not glamping!

Massive hill to get back to your tent (this was Worthy View though) so no nipping back to the tent to have a rest/ get something you have forgotten.

Queue for coffee in the morning was horrific!

I live next to the festival and at this stage I'd suggest that you see if some of the local camp sites have spaces. You'll pay £££££ for pre-erected tents. Ridiculous money. I think people are camping at the end of my road for more money than I can afford on a holiday ( seriously considers renting out garden...!)

Many thanks everyone. So good to get viewpoints of people who have been 😊. Still deciding!

Hey
I wouldn't personally spend all that money. I'm local about 5 miles from site so we are coming home every day. But I have been in and camped many times and it's all part of it camping.
The prices are ridiculous for what you are getting. It's a festival not the Maldives. Personally I'd camp normal and then take a week's holiday to somewhere exotic if I was going to spend 1500 to 25k on a tent!!! To be honest it takes away rhe magic of the festival the division of the people. There are facilities available for washing etc. Just enjoy it.x

Hi...yep. I'm totally with you. It's not like we've got money to burn. My partner (usually quite careful!),is of the opinion we're only going once, and he turns 50 next year 😆.. but I agree. And just have to persuade him. The more I think about it, the more I'm put off. Thinking what else we could do with the money. Thanks for reinforcing my view!
