Hello everyone.

Ok- just quickly.

We have finally decided.

DS is going to be 13.

We have decided to do Go kart and Vr experience and then food. But I don't know whether it's too much to do Go kart and Vr experience and then food.

I only say this because Go kart is expensive and a couple of DS friends would not be up for it but DS loves Go karting. So I was thinking that 3 of DS friends will join him for go karting and the rest for the gaming and food but I don't know if this is mean... considering that they're are only a few tickets for go karting...

I wouldn’t do a two tier party like that. I’d do the go karting another day.

Agreed

Can I ask why?

I would just do the VR and food if they will all like that.

But which one sounds more exciting?

DS would love the gokart...

One activity plus food is plenty.
Two activities with some friends at one and not the other will give the other friends (and parents) that they are not good enough friends.
Also sounds hard to organise with transport. Keep it simple.
Your son will want to spend time with friends doing something a bit special.

MolkosTeenageAngst · 25/11/2022 17:48

Surely the person to ask which he would find more exciting is your DS, not sure the opinions of a bunch of mums online are going to necessary reflect those of 13-year-old boys! It’s your DS’s party so surely he should be the one deciding what to do (obviously taking into account what you can afford) rather than you or Mumsnet!

Argh, should proof read..

Two activities with some friends at one and not the other will give the other friends (and parents) the impression that they are not good enough friends** to do both.

If your son loves go-karting, do that.

My dd went to a karting party (a 14th birthday I think) and hadn't done it before and was a bit nervous but loved it.

Can I ask why?

Because I think it would look like the best friends get to do both activities and the others only get to do one 🤷‍♀️

stuckonu · 25/11/2022 17:52

DS would love the Go Kaet but the issue is that it would be only for 15 minutes (due to lack of availability) and I can also purchase a small number of tickets so he would not be able to invite all the friends he has.

What I could do is on his actual birthday day (day) I could invite his best mate to do the go karting and I drop them off after school... and then do the actual party (food and VCR) on the weekend...

Just 15 mins isn't right for a party, do the VR for the party and then take DS and friend karting over the holiday or at half term
