Anyone work on payroll, please?

I took two weeks sick leave last month (depressive episode - had a sick note).

My work offer ‘enhanced sick pay’. Never used it before so don’t really know what it means.

Got my pay slip today and there’s no sick pay. Not even SSP.

Can they do this?

Work is a bit triggering for me atm as I’ve been dealing with bullying and raised a grievance. Not sure if this is my ‘punishment’.

I called payroll but no one answered. I only got the pay slip emailed to me at 4.30pm and I guess they’d finished for the day by then.

I know that some places expect you to claim your own SSP but nor sure - wanted to bump for you

Do you mean they've not paid you at all for the two weeks off sick? Or they've paid you at normal rate?

Have you got a copy of your contract / T&Cs you can check for the details?

Youcancallmeirrelevant · 25/11/2022 18:07

Are you missing the 2 weeks pay? Or is it just listed under your normal pay as usual?

You need your t&cs

T&Cs states that you get usual hourly rate up to around six weeks.

I had two weeks off, with a sick note.

Payroll isn’t open now until Monday and I have anxiety and zero patience.

Are you hourly paid and compete a timesheet or clock on / off on a system?

It could be that your manager hasn't told payroll that you are off sick, so they have just paid as per the timesheets which will be nothing as you haven't been to work.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/11/2022 18:25

Hourly paid with a timesheet.

I filled in the sick hours on the timesheet.

I even highlighted it because our payroll seem to struggle when it comes to holiday/training/anything that isn’t a regular working hour.

If you get full pay for sick, they might have just kept it all in as 1 pay and not broken down sick. Is your pay less than you were expecting?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 25/11/2022 18:28

Yes, my pay is about £800 down. (Earn just over £400 a week).

My work offer ‘enhanced sick pay’. Never used it before so don’t really know what it means.

It depends how that is defined in your contractual terms.

trilbydoll · 25/11/2022 18:33

It sounds like it has been processed as unpaid sick. I didn't know you could claim your own SSP - I know companies can't claim it back any more.

You've said you've never used it before - have you never been off sick? So you can't have used the 6w up already?

Unfortunately I can't see any other option but to wait until Monday - and realistically even if they have screwed up it will take a day or so to sort it out.

Fabvegetablegrower · 25/11/2022 18:36

If your down £800 and you're paid £400 a week it looks like you've not been paid your sick pay. It looks like a mistake to me. You're going to have to speak to payroll Monday to ask them what they've done.

BamBamBilla · 25/11/2022 18:36

Check the contract to see if they've included a minimum service length before you're entitled to the enhanced sick pay or if it definitely entitled to it from the beginning of your contract.

Comefromaway · 25/11/2022 18:37

It sounds like your sicknote wasn’t passed onto payroll

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/11/2022 09:58

OMFG, I’ve called payroll seven times since 9am, no one is answering.

Apparently several people’s pay was messed up. Basic hours were paid but nothin else.

I’m down 67 hours. If they don’t sort it I have £80 for the month once bills are paid.
