I'm not a dentist but want to know this as well. I've got really sensitive teeth and would love to whiten them but I'm scared it will hurt!

Paracetamol before use
toothpaste for sensitive teeth
dont use the trays every night

Only use them for 2 hours at a time. I'm not a dentist but that's what my dentist advises, he says no matter what strength bleach 2 hours is enough to make a difference but not cause damage to teeth and gums. Under no circumstances should the bleaching agent be in contact with teeth and gums overnight.

Y dentist says it's harmless to teeth.
It's just your nerves not liking it.
But that it needs to be on for at least 3hrs

Use sensitive toothpaste in the trays overnight instead alternate nights.

This. Put sensitive toothpaste every other night. Make sure the toothpaste is white.

Hygienist here
we suggest a no alcohol / fluoride rinse before you begin for a couple of weeks or so and during the treatment too. Do it at a seperate time from brushing- so you get two seperate ‘hits’ of fluoride.
if it’s sensitive during the whitening process stop using them temporarily and try

toothmousse ( it’s got milk in it so not for lactose intolerant people) and / or desensitising toothpaste as well as the rinse
most companies make a desensitising toothpaste now and they work in different ways so trying different ones is a good idea
you can brush with them or dab a little onto the sensitive areas before you go to bed

if it’s really not right then visit the dentist because there various gels and varnishes were can apply and other toothpastes which are prescription only
