So, I’ve noticed that my 9 year old has got facial twitches and ticks. So what do I do?

Much worse when he is tired but definitely there.

Is there actually anything that can be done? If so, what?

Im not particularly worried to be completely honest. It doesn’t affect him at all, don’t think he even knows he has them.

Any one with any experience?

If this is a new thing I would research PANDAS

It is a new thing.
Just noticed it this week.

Both my boys had tics at primary school if they were stressed. One used to twitch his neck and shoulder, the other made a sort of hum/yelp noise.
I didn’t draw attention to the tic and after a few years they stopped.

Tics and twitches are quite common in children, often linked to tiredness, stress, too much energy, things changing or just...because.

DD has tourettes, physical and motor tics since she was four, often sequences of tics in a row. Basically, unless it goes on for years, distresses them or gets worse then I wouldn't worry. It will most likely pass, gradually.

Best not to mention it unless your child does.

He has no anxiety or mood issues, no OCD behaviours, he is his usual happy little self. Just the face and eye twitching.

My DD developed a tic at about 9. It coincided with a house move. I read NHS guidance that said ignore it, don't mention it or bring it up, so child does not get self-conscious about it and it should stop. It did. Hope your DS is ok.
