Which car?!

Good evening all.

I currently drive a 4 seater Toyota aygo and it's tiny. Pregnant with dc3 so NEED a bigger car as I won't be able to fit us all in this one when baby arrives!

My issue is, my spatial awareness isn't great and I'm scared of having to handle a big car. But I want a car we can all fit in comfortably that has a good sized boot. Obviously there will be 2 car seats in the back, and dd1 is 11 so not small and able to fit in a little middle seat.

I really don't like long cars but don't want a really wide one either 😬 any suggestions?? Thanks in advance!

Qashqai would suit you fine

Corsa

KIA Sportage is great and not too big. Super reliable has good parking sensors etc to help you get used to it

Honda Civic maybe? Mk9 feels like a small car to drive, has really good front visibility and the boots big. The newest ones are a bit bulkier and lower, but better still on interior space.

Skoda Kamiq or Karoq

Thanks for replies 😊

Qashqai is on my list as a possibility. My mums got a Kia Sportage but it seems a bit big to me? But is it actually any bigger than a qashqai?

My neighbour had a Honda Civic and I thought it seemed quite long..

Will have a look at the others mentioned that I'm not familiar with 👍

Make a list of all the cars which fit 3 car seats across the back. And then work from there.

Yarrawonga · 23/11/2022 20:06

I had a older Sportage, not the new one, and it wasn’t that easy to park because visibility out of the back is not good. My husband’s bigger car was easier.

We have a Citroen C5 Aircross. Three individual seats across the back. It's got amazing cameras that cover SO many angles.

It's a compact SUV but fits our three kids well.

Peugeot 5008

Mini Countryman. Surprisingly roomy in the back

username8888 · 23/11/2022 20:15

Make sure you get a rear camera and all round sensors. Spacial awareness sorted.

Isthisbatcountry · 23/11/2022 20:17

We got a quashai in the summer and I love it. Previously had a fiesta and an astra and I don't struggle with the size. It's a great car and so lovely to have lots of room. Definitely recommend!

caramellattelove · 23/11/2022 20:47

Thanks everyone 😊

Just to mention, it's not the spatial awareness in relation to parking that I'm worried about. More whether I'm too big for certain gaps and that type of thing.

Skodas are pretty roomy inside. I'd look at a fabia, octavia or superb (the latter has a ridiculous amount of legroom in the back).

And test drive whatever you buy. We've had some hire cars that were tiny inside but actually super wide and awkward to drive.

Quite like the look of that one!

Might be a bit out of price range though, seems to be quite new so haven't found many used ones under £9000 in my brief google..

A Kia Sportage. If you get a 4 (and possibly a 3) you'll get a reverse camera and it's got loads is sensors. The newer model parks itself!

UnOeufIsEnough · 23/11/2022 22:51

Ah, yes, it is fairly recent, I think. We went from a Yaris to a VW Touran in 2018 and I don't remember it being an option then when we exhausted the "3 carseats across the backseat" search! The Touran cost us a fortune in repairs so we traded it in for the Citroen.

OnTheRunWithMannyMontana · 23/11/2022 22:52

I had a qashqui and I'm pretty sure it was cursed. So many things went wrong with it.

Currently have a Toyota Corolla sport. It's an estate so longer than we are used to but the space in it is a dream! Also it's hybrid and so much cheaper to run than anything we have had before.

MarianneVos · 23/11/2022 22:57

Have you test driven some? I went from a Yaris to a picasso and had the same worries but the transition was surprisingly easy and I don't find it difficult to drive. I actually much preferred it on test drive to estates.

MarianneVos · 23/11/2022 22:58

Meant to say I've got three kids in car seats and it fits them fine, when I had two it fitted an adult fine in the middle seat. Great spacious boot too.

paintitallover · 23/11/2022 23:24

Qashqai are impossible to get out of.
