Skin tag advice

something2say · 23/11/2022 09:40

Hi

For some reason, I have grown a skin tag by my collar bone, which looks like a grain of rice on my chest. It catches the seatbelt and my clothes.

Sk:n clinic said around £400 for removal, I have not been in for a consultation.

A local clinic are supposed to get back to me, but still a lot of money.

Someone has just said I can buy something that will freeze it off.

Does anyone have any advice?

Because I have caught it so many times now, it feels a bit crusty. I'm hoping it is dying tbh!

www.cryotag.co.uk/

I bought this, then found I couldnt use it as the skin tag was under my eye, but have a read and see if it is suitable.

This is great. Its best if you have someone else apply it and get really close to the stem. I wouldn't use it on face.

Tie cotton around it and pull tight and let the blood supply die to it so it drops off.

I am thinking about Cryotag. £30 instead of £350!

Thanks for the advice. The reviews of Cryotag seem to point to having to do it a few times. I'm going to try it out - thanks.

Yes do this combined with cryo tag

FrightfullyFreezy · 23/11/2022 10:09

I just snipped mine off with a pair of nail clippers.

I also did this!

OW! Was there not blood?

LaBellina · 23/11/2022 10:49

I heard lots of people just cut it off with a pair of nail clippers as also shared by previous posters but not sure how safe that method really is re infection risk etc

MistyRock · 23/11/2022 11:00

Just tie some cotton around it and it will soon drop off.

Aerielview · 23/11/2022 11:01

I've had a few in the past; I rubbed vitamin e oil on them daily and they were gone within a few weeks

Shunkleisshiny · 23/11/2022 11:10

Gripped mine with a pair of tweezers and held on to them for about 10 minutes, it stops the blood flow to the tag then it dies and drops off. Have used tiny bulldog clips with the same results

Toppl · 23/11/2022 11:13

Marking place

Toppl · 23/11/2022 11:23

Is 10 mins enough shunkleisshiny? I thought it took a few days for them to fall off when using a thread to cut off blood supply

There wasn't much blood at all when I did it. It didn't really hurt either. I wiped it before and after with an antiseptic wipe and all was fine.

@ Toppi, it worked for me but I did pinch it hard. Try it and see what works for you, you have nothing to lose but a skin tag!!!!!

TheGoodEnoughWife · 23/11/2022 14:40

Tie a bit of cotton round it tight. Leave for 5-7 days it will drop off.

Yes, me too, just held it tightly and slightly up away from my skin with tweezers with one hand and snipped with the nail scissors in the other. Put a plaster over for a day or two after.

RobinHumphries · 23/11/2022 14:45

I got this as recommended by somebody on another thread

FartOutLoudDay · 23/11/2022 14:51

DH got a set with elastic bands in and a tool you use to place them tightly around the tag. Dropped off and healed perfectly with no scar

Me too. I've done a few like this
It's doesn't hurt

CMOTDibbler · 23/11/2022 15:16

I used to ship them off with a pair of very sharp, fine, curved scissors (boiled and cleaned the area) but I have millions (ok, thousands in reality, they are all over my torso and some down my legs) and they have to get relatively big before you can do that. So, like @RobinHumphries I have a zapper and can get them before they become an actual tag. I let my teenager do it, and can tolerate about 20 before it hurts properly. Reminds me I need to deal with a patch on my side which is just getting to the annoying stage

KnittedCardi · 23/11/2022 15:18

I go to a local aesthetics lady who does a session for £50. I had about 40 done last year in one go! I look like I had had a bad case of chicken pox. The Skin Clinic are taking the piss, that's the price for a full mole removal with hystology.

I have also had some keratosis cyro'd off by a dermatologist under BUPA - even he only charges £180 for a few blasts!

Whitney168 · 23/11/2022 15:32

Loads of skin tag removal kits on Amazon that just help you put a tiny elastic band on it -- it will drop off of its own accord soon enough then. Very effective.
