Has anyone left a really stressful job and regretted it?

I've posted a few times about my stressful job! But I've realised I can't carry on. It's really affecting my mental health and is affecting the time I spend with my daughter. Out of the blue I have been approached by a recruiter for two jobs and am going to see if anything comes of them. And if not, I have decided to hand in my notice end of January and go freelance. Has anyone quit a really stressful job and regretted it? I've asked friends and they only have positive experiences but it's making me anxious thinking about it (probably due to the stress I'm under) xxx

Do it. I'm in the process of doing the same. Sometimes you have to show yourself enough self love and put yourself first. Life is too short. I'm not saying it's easy, it really isn't. What do you really have to lose? You'll find something else. Perhaps you need a couple of months off to recover. I know it's a luxury that not everyone can afford - I'm not meaning to be tone deaf - but if you can why not do it?

No not at all. I was in a very stressful job working with toxic people. Ended up crying in the office and taking two weeks sick leave. I had a dc at nursery and was tired and stressed so were they probably from being at nursery for 11 hours a day.

I left. Got another job have been promoted and love my new company. Go for it!

@spidersenses I am in a fortunate position where I do have a bit of a cushion to help me for a certain period of time! I gave birth during pandemic, was in a horrible relationship which ended just as I went back to work and then boom back to working full time! I don't think I've had time to process anything that happened and my mental health is on an ebb! Throw in the fact my daughter still doesn't sleep so I get a max of four hours unbroken sleep a night! I just don't feel it's worth it xxx

@spidersenses also good luck with your move! Have you handed in your notice?

No I left a massively stressful job working directly with a certain vacuum cleaner inventor who shall not be named 😆. I quit after 3 months and literally skipped down the street to the bus stop. It was hellish. SO SO much relief to walk out of those doors! If you can afford it then do it, you owe it to yourself and your daughter to look after your mental health

@Lilyminilli this exactly! Even without the work, my daughter is only two and goes to nursery full time and she loves it, but is knackered and just wants to spend time with me at the end of the day! My heart breaks for her. And I don't want to regret not being there for her more xxx

@Whichwhatnow I can't imagine who you're talking about haha! Sounds amazing, and this is the feeling I want to feel! And actually have the time and energy to cook myself dinner rather than living off toast and maybe even was my hair more than once a fortnite haha x
