Wearing coats in cold office

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 21/11/2022 19:27

Seems like heating in all our buildings has been turned off.
I share with 2 others and we are wearing coats or jackets and I also wear woolly mittens. Most of us are coughing and sneezing. I have a cough emanating from the middle of my chest which I can't reach when I cough.
I have an app on my phone and the readings today veered between 15.7 and 18.2. When it was at 16 deg I showed my boss and he said "very good".
I've decided not to go in tomorrow as conditions are intolerable. Have a doctor's appt on Friday which I'll keep if this coughing doesn't subside.

I am sure there is a government regulation or recommendation about minimum temperatures in the office. You could show this to him. And bring a heater in

There is, and it's piss weak:

That is ridiculous maybe they changed it to reflect the energy crisis. Buy a heater and plug it in

Government guidelines have been the same for years. I know as I have to deal with complaints of too hot/ too cold throughout the year.
There are no regulations on workplace temperatures. You can't expect people working at a steelworks furnace to complain that it's too hot. Or for a butcher or fishmonger to complain it's too cold when storing meat/fish in the freezer.
My sympathies as I've worked in cold offices and the only answer is lots of layers and plenty of hot drinks.

I am so dumb! Maybe it's brain freeze.
It never crossed my mind to bring in a heater.
I have a small Dimplex wheelie oil heater which is coming to work with me on Wed.

You'll have to have it pat tested before you can plug it in.

Bring in a hot water bottle and put it on your lap.
