How long does it take for your house to get warm?

I have a largeish 4 bed house with good sized rooms. Modern central heating set on a thermostat at 19 degree and a timer for when we'll be at home.

19 is plenty for me, once it reaches that temp, but it came on at 4:30 and now (at 6pm) is only 17.5. It was 17 when I got in c. 5pm and it will get to 19, but it seems to take a really long time.

If this isn't usual, what do I do about it?

It depends where your thermostat is, how hot your radiators get (boiler temp), whether doors are doors are shut, size of rooms. Some of my rooms heat up much faster than others. I've moved my Hive thermostat around to check.

Similar sized house, build 2000. We got up really early this morning and it was just under 17 in the living room. Took about half an hour to feel warmer and under an hour to get to 19.5 - but - we replaced our old inefficient boiler in March. It's made a massive difference.

I have the same sized house. Finally relented at lunchtime as DS and I were both WFH and the house was 12°.

It took hours to warm up. It's a new build (ish) with good insulation. I think it's been cold for so long that it's just taking an age to get to temperature. I've only had it on for an hour or two hours at a time so far.

Takes about 30 mins to get to 19 degrees

One of the (only) benefits of having a tiny house is that it warms up quickly. I can’t pity you too much, with your largeish 4-bedroomed house. 😁

What's your humidity like? It will warm up slower if it's damp.

My 3 bed house never felt warm, even when the thermostat was set at 24°! I then got a new, bigger and more efficient boiler plus added another radiator in the lounge and now my house get toasty warm in just a few minutes and I never need to set it higher than 20° ( it’s usually at 18° until I sit down in the evening)
