Does anyone else get random overwhelming nausea?

Out of nowhere. Sometimes after food. Sometimes when I haven't eaten for 2/3 hours. Seems totally random. It can last a minute or so and I need to eat or drink something for it to go away. It's never made me actually vomit but I feel like I'm going to. Happens about once every week or so. Any thoughts? Have had it for as long as I can remember...

Can I ask your age range and if your female ?
For many years this happened to me ; chatting to a few of my friends and they had the same thing , we were all similar age and peri menopausal. We put it down to hormones and just everything slowly changing , also not being able to eat the things we liked too
Apologizes if your only young still , but I do understand how you feel.
If it becomes worrying it might be worth seeing your GP. I found that peppermint tablets helped me too.

Yes I have this. I will feel hungry, make food, feel nauseous and like I can’t eat, it subsides, I eat.
I also get it early morning.
I often feel like I’m going to be sick. But I never am.

I'm only 30 and had it for a good few years so definitely not a peri menopause thing. Could definitely be hormonal though. Not even sure what my GP would do for me!

I don't think it's anxiety in my case. I have had anxiety before but doesn't seem to be any correlation.

Sounds really similar. I wonder what causes it! I get it early morning too but equally can get it in the evening, regardless of whether I've eaten or not. Seem to almost always get it after I've eaten fried eggs too which I've always found weird as it's the only food that seems to trigger nausea!

Yeah, I get that! Waves of nausea. 34 so probably not menopause related.

blacktiger · 20/11/2022 21:03

I'm 38 and I've had that since I had Covid in Jan for maybe 3/4 months. I was either exhausted and asleep at 7.30pm (after I put son to bed) or if I managed to stay awake past that all of the next day I would feel nauseous until anywhere between lunchtime and 3pm.

I did put it down to a Covid thing but reading these responses I now wonder if it's an age/hormone thing.

the80sweregreat · 20/11/2022 21:12

No, your 30s are too young for anything hormonal ( I would have thought )
Hope you can sort it out soon
Take care

LactoseTheIntolerant · 20/11/2022 21:27

The only time I've had that is with both my pregnancies.

That's just pregnancy related sickness though isn't it. I'm fairly sure I haven't been pregnant for the last few years 😅

Came on to say is it eggs? And yep, I see it is eggs. The proteins in them, something something something when cooked, especially the whites (not a scientist) - this has come up on MN quite a few times before.

Not an allergy, more of an intolerance. You might find through experimentation that yolks are ok, or whole scrambled egg is ok, or that meringues are ok but fried egg is a no-no.

How weird! Doesn't explain that most of the time it hasn't been when I've eaten eggs though, and was vegan for years and still happened. Hmm.

Omg I was gonna say it happens especially when I've had eggs. How weird.

user1464279374 · 20/11/2022 22:42

If I'm properly hungry that sometimes turns to nausea (blood sugar related maybe?). Lots of food makes me nauseous - eggs like other posters have said, and a fair few high fibre things (breads/cereals). Pork also. I've worked out the culprits over the years and now don't eat them!

HowDoYouOwnDisorder · 20/11/2022 22:48

I get it after eating raw onion, cucumber or apple, it just makes my stomach blow up like balloon, and then it is hard work to not get sick (I have actually been sick a few times after eating raw onion)

but I also get nausea when my blood sugar tanks, so if I’ve eaten nothing for 4 hrs I get shaky and dizzy and nauseous. It’s remedied easily by food though. My dad, brother and son have the same so must be a genetic thing

and the onion/apple must be some kind of intolerance

boring stuff. But quite normal I think? I just think I have a sensitive stomach
