Does a anyone know what the current rules are? It seems to be that things are more relaxed than they were previously but just wondering.

I think it will depend on the hospital. When I had planned surgery last month I had to isolate for a week before, and have negative covid tests for the three days leading up to admission and the day itself.

I think generally the emphasis these days is on whether you have covid symptoms or a positive test. No one seems bothered about exposure anymore. My friend recently had planned surgery and was asked to test on the day and 3 days before, which she did. On the day no one asked her about it.

Yes, I think that seems to be the case. It’s not for me, for a friend but I will let them know. The hospital website doesn’t say very much so things are certainly more relaxed than before.

Sorry posted too soon

were currently doing 3 lat flows before admission (1 on the day)

7 week wait if you’ve had covid (not because of spreading it but because of anaesthesia). If urgent then ignore the 7 weeks

It depends how urgent your surgery is. Even if your covid positive you can have surgery and you can still attend your hospital appointment. You would obviously just have to discuss this with the hospital staff.

hugznotdrugz · 20/11/2022 19:21

It depends a little on the hospital and reason for surgery: my friend had hers postponed for that reason but another ones at the same hospital went ahead (however second friends was heading towards being urgent)

I had surgery in a private hospital in August and just had to do one LFT the morning I was admitted. I was able to do it at home and take a photo of the result and show on admittance.

I’m admitted once every six months As an in-patient (for about 30mins 🙄) and have to have a PCR test. If I’m positive I can’t have the treatment.

I had major surgery yesterday and even though my pro op paperwork said I'd be test on admittance, covid hasn't been mentioned even once. No questions about it whatsoever

Yes. My husband had COVID when I had surgery in October but I was fine to go ahead as I was negative
