Very random I know but has anyone ever stayed in either
The Royal Horseguards
or
Great Scotland Yard Hotel

I need a nice (but not mega mega £££) hotel near Charing Cross and these two look good

Any other recommendations welcome but can't be more than £500 per night as that's bloody pushing it anyway. it's for a very special occasion

TIA

The Corinthia was lovely.

MoggyMittens23 · 20/11/2022 12:44

@chickadeee gorgeous but WAY out of budget!

Waldorf or Hilton Bankside

What about the Claremont? You can't get ANY closer to Charing Cross Station than that.

I've stayed then many time and it's been great.

Waldorf or Hilton Bankside

Stayed at the Waldorf a couple of weeks ago. Check in was horrendous, so slow even once you got to the desk after queuing.

They gave us the wrong room and we had to wait over an hour for the correct room to be ready. No offer of a drink while we waited, not even water. Charing (well Amba as it was then, took us into the VIP Lounge to wait when there was a small issue with them)

The Trafalgar?

louderthan · 21/11/2022 12:38

When you say 'near Charing Cross' do you mean walking distance? Or a couple of stops on the tube?

bridgetjonesmassivepants · 21/11/2022 12:52

The Clermont at Charring Cross is great, really good breakfast and service. Ask to be in the main block rather than over the bridge. The more expensive rooms have complimentary mini bars which we found ridiculously exciting.

jamontoastaddict · 21/11/2022 13:13

As per pp Hilton bankside is nice recommend a lounge access room as you get free food and alcoholic drinks between 6-8pm and a free breakfast and the pool is nice.

I'd jump in a cab from Charing Cross but it's very walkable (for a fit able bodied person)

I've not stayed in it but is the Conrad near there? That's another Hilton brand hotel.

Also the Bloomsbury Hotel and Covent Garden hotel look nice and are my try list.

The Marylebone

MoggyMittens23 · 22/11/2022 12:51

Thanks all I will have a look at all these and @louderthan yes has to be walkable, I don't do the tube!

I’ve stayed in Royal Horseguards, but not for around 5 years (moved to London). It was a great hotel, convenient and discreet service. Lovely rooms and bathrooms and fantastic breakfast.
