Teething & Safe sleep

9month old baby cutting his 6th tooth (lateral incisor). Will not sleep if we put him down on his back. Screams for hours non stop until we pick him up and hold him. He will sleep if we put him down on his tummy. Worried about sids, but we cannot function on zero sleep and have been back at work 5 weeks and seriously struggling. Any advice?

Oh no! Bless him; I let my 6 month old sleep on his front, I put him down on his front (he only rolls there anyway!)
I do have a nanit camera and band though (I appreciate this isn't a certified medical device - but it works damn well and I dont think I'd be able to sleep without it!)
Hope you get some sleep soon!

Presumably at 9 months, he can roll over by himself anyway?

Let him sleep on his front if that’s what he needs. Mine all did from 5 months onwards… I would put them to bed on their backs and they would flip over and then sleep soundly

Can your DC roll over? I'm pretty sure by 9 months they're ok to sleep on their front because most can roll and move their head if needed.

What pain relief are you giving him? I always found when the paracetamol kicked in it was ok. I'd he can roll then front sleeping is OK I believe. Hope you all get some rest soon

He has ashton & parsons powders and calpol before bed. The other teeth havent been too bad but these incisors have been awful.😳

He used to roll from his back to his side, then when we woke in the morning he would be on his tummy. I think he used the bars of the cot to push and pull himself.

My other half has been off with him for a month and putting him to bed and I suspect he's been putting him on his tummy to stop the crying.

Baby has been crawling for 6 weeks and he tends to caterpillar crawl around the cot and push himself up to move positions rather than roll.

The front sleeping is a non issue, don't give that a second thought.

You need better pain relief. Ditch the powders, they're useless. Get anbesol numbing liquid, and give ibuprofen rather than paracetamol.

Definitely anbesol liquid, it's brilliant! And alternating calpol and nurofen. We found nurofen better for teething!

I've basically repeated your post! Grin
