Fairy lights all year round?

Does anyone have fairy lights in their homes all year round? Or are they just a Christmas thing?

All year round in the bedroom. They just instantly make the room feel cosy Smile

Elemenohpe · 19/11/2022 17:46

I have them on a large pot plant in the living room, on the back wall of the playroom and above our bed all year round.

bonnielochs · 19/11/2022 17:47

I do, and have done for years. I have them in the kitchen and also in my hall. It's a nicer tone of light than a stark overhead bulb. Candles lit and my fairy lights on is a simple joy. They make me happy.

Not that keen on the look but each to their own.

I always thought they could be a fire risk and sometimes they are

Loads. Life is too short not to have sparkly lights on wherever you want them!

They're cosy, low energy and keep rooms feeling warmer than having them pitch black.

I prefer warm white ones.

Binfire · 19/11/2022 17:52

I love twinkly light inside and also love candles, and outdoor festoon lights in the garden too.

I’m not sure I’d actually do it inside all year around as it feels a bit studenty but do actually love the effect.

I think I need to set up a cosy little reading nook with twinkly lights!

DramaAlpaca · 19/11/2022 17:54

I don't, but I'd quite like to. I might put some up in my bedroom.

hesbeingabitofadick · 19/11/2022 17:55

I do.
One set over the top of the kitchen units - cheaper than putting the main lights on.
One set on the top of the dresser - cheaper than a lamp.
One set above the bed in the spare room - cheaper than a lamp.

I do - I have extra long ones (warm white led) across and down framing my patio doors in lounge - much nicer than having the other lights on , cheaper and very low risk

Theradioisoncoco · 19/11/2022 18:00

I do, absolutely love them! I opened this thread cautiously as thought all the posts would be sneery about them but they're not, hurrah!!

ChocolatSouris · 19/11/2022 18:00

All year, I put mine on in the early morning while I make the first cup of tea. Makes a dark kitchen feel instantly cosy.

OatFox · 19/11/2022 18:02

All year round for me.

mamabunt · 19/11/2022 19:17

Thanks for your replies, I'll definitely be leaving them up after Christmas. Jan and Feb are so miserable they might cheer me up.
Found these whilst searching for lights and I think they may have to come and live with me too.

All year round in the summerhouse, it feels really cosy.

I would like some more, perhaps in the sitting room.

Robin233 · 19/11/2022 19:47

Solor fairly lights in the garden
White ones
Yellow ones
Coloured ones

Robin233 · 19/11/2022 19:48

And 6 solor lights hung on the tree right at the end of the garden.

ncncncnc123 · 19/11/2022 19:50

Do people tend to use battery powered ones or mains? And are battery powered as risky (in terms of fires) as mains ones?

MammaWeasel · 19/11/2022 19:51

Ohhhhhh yes! Have done for years

Cocolapew · 19/11/2022 21:20

All year

Fairy lights all year round?
RockyOfTheRovers · 19/11/2022 21:34

I’ve just counted 5 sets that we have all year round in various rooms. We don’t use them all every day, but they do make the house feel cosy and cheerful. Ours are all warm white. One of the sets gets moved on to a Christmas tree in December, then back onto a bookcase when Christmas is over.

mamabunt · 19/11/2022 21:45

Cocolapew · 19/11/2022 21:20

All year

They look fabulous

Great means I’ll enjoy my lights when I get them in the sales I can clean up. Warm white 0nes.

Heronatemygoldfish · 28/11/2022 21:10

I do! Been doing it ever since I was a student as it's cheery and I'm now well north of 50. I can count three sets (one is actual Noma bulbs not LED) from where I'm sitting and there's another two in other rooms. Three more sets are outside in the holly bushes that only get switched on in December/Christmas because they're bustards to put up and there's never a dry weekend to do it.

I'm leaving that autocorrect typo cos I like it.
