My DDs have asked for some specific dolls for Christmas. They are hard to find (no longer in production) so I ordered 3 different dolls from eBay on 15 October. They did have an estimated delivery date of 14-16 November, which was fine. The seller has sold 4.7k items and has 98% positive feedback.
On 28th October I had 3 e-mails saying the dolls had been delivered. All 3 e-mails had the same courier tracking number on them. However, I received only 1 box, with 1 doll in it.
I contacted the seller with pictures of the box and attached label with tracking number visible. The box is clearly only big enough for one doll. I was told not to worry, the other 2 would arrive “next week”. When they hadn’t arrived 2 weeks later, I contacted them again. I was again reassured “next week”. Today I asked for a refund. They have said they should have arrived and will check tracking. All exchanges have been via eBay messaging.
I’ve reported them officially as not delivered on eBay now and selected the refund option. I expected to wait a while to receive them but it was plainly dishonest to mark them all as shipped together. eBay will intervene from 24th November. Their systems obviously show them as delivered in October though.
I have found the dolls elsewhere (Amazon) for a similar price. Delivery is mid December, so I’m considering ordering them now. There are free returns on those, if the originals happened to turn up in the interim.
It’s £80. I can afford it, but it’s a wrench to potentially pay twice.
What do you think my chances are of getting an eBay refund? I paid via their website.
