Ice skating
Light trail
Butlins

CoodleMoodle · 18/11/2022 13:40

Taking them to see the Cbeebies panto in the cinema in early December. Also going to see Santa in the shopping centre. That's it so far.

DC are 8 and 4. DD still believes but very aware it might be our last year, DS very into the whole thing.

34and3 · 18/11/2022 13:41

Pantomime
Light trail
Santa at Hamleys
Ice skating

FourChimneys · 18/11/2022 13:47

We never used to do anything Christmassy, they seemed to do enough at school.

When we did things like a run round in the woods with friends, a bonfire or swimming they seemed to enjoy the break from full-on Christmas stuff.

Not sure if it is related but one of my adult DC has officially given up Christmas. Not religious and hates the commercialism.

fete · 18/11/2022 14:01

We have two trips to see The Nutcracker before Christmas. Different ballet companies.

Also might add a pantomime end of Dec, and usual walks and crafts (minimal).

Ladyofthepeonies · 18/11/2022 14:02

Light trail, panto and finally getting away on holiday.

2tired2careanymore · 18/11/2022 14:05

My kids don't finish school until the 23rd so not much!

They like going to see the lights and they always enjoy seeing the big tree at Cheshire Oaks at night.

I agree with others, there is enough hysteria for Christmas whipped up by school. I don't need to add to it!

Retrievemysanity · 18/11/2022 14:07

Carol concert and light trail in the holidays. German market and Nativity the Musical in the next couple of weeks.

Doughnuts68 · 18/11/2022 14:29

Lady - what type of holiday?

ScarlettOHaraHamiltonKennedyButler · 18/11/2022 14:34

Pantomime, Light Trail, Ice Skating and Santa Visit (probably last Santa year for my eldest).

I see Vue are also showing Christmas movies so will probably do that too.

Fuckitydoodah · 18/11/2022 14:34

I've booked the local panto and that's it so far. We usually drag them out for a dog walk somewhere on Xmas eve and then back for hot chocolate and a Xmas movie. I'd like to do a light trail or something but being more careful with money and older DS is not that into it anymore ☹

BakewellGin1 · 18/11/2022 14:35

Pantomime booked to see Aladdin at local city theatre

Garden centre

BakewellGin1 · 18/11/2022 14:37

Ladyofthepeonies · 18/11/2022 15:49

@Doughnuts68 a week to centreparcs it’s the only holiday we’ve had this year for the week before Christmas I cannot wait. Although making sure everything is done before we go away is gonna be a bit more of a struggle.

ShesThunderstorms · 18/11/2022 15:52

Christmas art class (they're toddlers)
Seeing Santa at a castle
Garden centre trip to choose a tree decoration each
Luminate lights trail
Thinking about panto in between Christmas and new year

PuttingDownRoots · 18/11/2022 15:55

School does stuff like Christmas parties and ice skating

Santa train on steam railway

Ski holiday (return Christmas Eve... not for Christmas just the only convenient time to go)

Greydogs123 · 18/11/2022 16:11

National trust Father Christmas Visit.
ice skating
winter fair and lights.
i have an only child so I always try to do a few outings with friends so they are more fun and Christmassy.

Muchtoomuchtodo · 18/11/2022 16:13

Not a lot. They’re older now so not as interested and they don’t break up until 23rd December!

Decafflatteplease · 18/11/2022 16:15

Keeping it really simple and hopefully cheap.

Winter walks/ hot chocolate/ mulled apple juice in a flask

Christmas film afternoon with slow cooker hot chocolate station. Maybe home made pizza.

Santa train on old fashioned steam railway

Christmas baking...mince pies, sausage rolls.

Decorating ready bought Christmas biscuits

Paint your own Christmas decorations kit

Doughnuts68 · 18/11/2022 22:35

All sounds lovely

DC are 18 and 14 now so don't often want to do so much with us.

We're taking DC2 to see RSNO perform the music of The Snowman and narrated by Aled Jones next month. We'll probably make a day of it to see the Christmas lights and look round shops etc first too since we don't go through to the city often.

We might manage a panto too hopefully, but I always end up horribly ill when our local one is on and I always miss it. Sad

SanchezAndSmith · 18/11/2022 22:48

Might see if granny wants to take DS to see Santa at the garden centre.

I can't think of anything else to do.

Doughnuts68 · 19/11/2022 10:34

23rd December is late to break up
