Bed changing & washing… how?!

We are a family of 6 (4 children). 2 eldest DC have single beds, 3rd has a double, 4th is co sleeping. We (the adults) have a king size.

There are plenty of changes of bed clothes for the single beds, but we only really have one set of bed clothes for the double/kings.

I cannot figure out how people are managing to change beds weekly! Please tell me how?!

As it stands we do at least 1 full load of washing daily. With very changeable weather conditions here, the tumble dryer is also used frequently.

Bedsheets for each of the bigger beds are a full load each.

The ‘eco’ wash on our machine takes over 5 hours (absolutely insane, but there we are!), and then there’s drying time to factor in.

How the heck are people finding the time to change weekly?!

is it shorter cycles? More bedclothes? Lies?

our laundrette has fab dryers, £3.50 and all bedding dry ( 4 beds worth) in 16 minutes
When weather is ok is usually when ours get done so can be hung on the line, double spin in washer , spare sets for each bed and who has time to wait for an eco wash - things to do and places to be

Change bed linen when it gets dirty rather than at a fixed interval.
What's dirty? My cats might walk on freshly changed bedding and leave pawprints! I couldn't decide if bedding was dirty or not like I do clothes.

I'd live with the pawprints. I definitely wash it immediately if they throw up though.

We have 3 sets for each bed, change each week. If the weather is ok I'll wash them on a 40 Degree cycle and hang out. If not it goes to the laundry. When we had a decent dryer I did it at home all the time.

I have 8 kids and a superking bed for me and dh.

Dh is funny about clean bedding and my arms are too short to change ours by myself so he’s changed ours at least twice a week by himself since we got together 😂

I change the kids every week but I get the older 5 to strip their beds in the morning before they go to school, and we have a few sets of bedding each. The younger 3 have cover less duvets from fine bedding company and I wish they all had them as it make it so much easier!

Im a sahm though and if I worked full time I don’t think I could be arsed doing as much as I do now tbh.

Two sets per bed, makes life easier.

I'd certainly change it immediately if one threw up! Though they always choose the carpet for that. It could be 'dirty' the same day, so I always change four weekly, nothing seems to happen to make it dirty one day when it was clean the day before.

I’d look at all the settings on your washer dryer as you’ve said, there’s no higher temp short cycles on my new one but there is a rapid button to shorten any wash , I wouldn’t bother using the cotton drying function on the dryer just use anyone that is shorter 3.5 hours is insane my king sized bedding goes on a 1 hour dry cycle most clothes get put on a 40 min one .
