Scared I’m too late.. (fertility related)

Posting here for traffic so I do apologise for bringing this here, my posts never seem to be answered on the health or conception boards.

I have pcos so very irregular heavy periods. I went onto the mini pill for over a year and came off as dh and I were ready to try for a baby. For the past 3 months I have been recording my bbt temperatures and I have noticed a pattern that during my follicular phase my temperature is very high. I have been having night sweats that I presumed were from the central heating, but it only happens during the follicular phase. I also had some low oestrogen symptoms during my last period. Since I came off the mini pill I do seem to be ovulating, however I’m having all the symptoms of menopause too. My uterus feels very heavy, like a pulled muscle, so I’m unsure what this is, possibly endometriosis? I’m CD8, no illness or reason to suspect so.
My temperatures post ovulation are much higher, however I don’t have night sweats during that time.
Im only 33 and I feel I’ve left it too late and may need fertility treatment.
I have booked an appointment with my gp but the earliest they could fit me in is next Monday, so I’m hoping anyone here may have some advice or information to reassure me until then please

If you're ovulating pregnancy is possible (even if you're in perimenopause), but with PCOS it might not be easy (which you already know I'm sure). I can't offer any information or advice I'm afraid, but don't count yourself out yet (I went to see a fertility specialist / clinic and was given 1 -2% chance of conceiving. I successfully fell pregnant naturally eventually - a chance is a chance however small it is) fingers crossed for you. You're doing the right thing by tracking bbt and seeing your GP.

vincettenoir · 15/11/2022 17:56

Sounds like you’re pretty on top of this and doing all the right things. I guess you just need to wait to see whether the gp thinks you need further investigations or not.

Whisperwispa · 15/11/2022 17:59

Thank you both, does the high temperature before ovulation sound like anything specific? As I always assumed it’s lower before ovulation then high after until your period /pregnancy begins
We can’t afford IVF or anything private so if we can’t get pregnant naturally it will never happen for us

What are you pre ovulation and post ovulation temps?

Whataretheodds · 15/11/2022 18:46

Are you TTC? How many months have you had DTD (ie PIV, he ejaculated inside you) during the fertile window?

Whisperwispa · 15/11/2022 18:54

My average pre ovulation temps are around 36.40, they’re currently 36.90 this cycle. My post ovulation temps have been around 37.10 in previous cycles, I haven’t ovulated this cycle yet to know what it will be.
We have dtd on the right dates leading up to and on ovulation day since I finished the mini pill. So far all bfn. My last period was very heavy but only lasted 2 days, they usually last 5 days.

Forgot to add I finished the mini pill 4 months ago that’s when we began ttc

Can you post a picture of your last few charts?

High post ovulation temps mean high progesterone which is good and needed for a strong pregnancy so that is one positive.

How long are your Luteal phases?

Whisperwispa · 15/11/2022 19:24

I’m getting any error code when I try to add the charts does anyone know how I can fix it?
my luteal phase is 14 days but I have 34 day cycles

Likely this is just your body settling down.

I really recommend a book called the period repair manual. It will help you to understand your hormones and ways to help your PCOS without using the pill.

In the mean time, those temperatures aren't crazy. They could just be you and you being slightly on the warm side.

Doctors won't look at testing until you've been trying at least 6 months (as PCOS is already diagnosed)

The good news is it seems like you're ovulating so there's every change. For normal healthy people the chance of pregnancy each cycle is around 20% and it can take a year for a healthy couple to conceive.

So you’ve only been trying for 4 months? Your body can take a while to settle after coming off the pill and on average it takes a year to conceive anyway. It’s likely the doctors won’t refer for any tests until you’ve been trying for at least a year as you’re under 35.

@Whisperwispa

From everything you've said OP, there is nothing of concern.

  • You're 30, which is good.
  • Cycles are 34 days, which is good.
  • Luteal phase is 14 days, which is optimal
  • High post ovulation temps, which is good.

It's only been 4 months try not to be too hard on yourself.
It took me 8 months post pills to have a healthy cycle and I've been charting for 4+ years since.
