18 degrees in November

I can’t remember it ever being this warm in November. There’s no sign of it cooling down either. The thought has sparked as a photo came up on my Snapchat memories earlier today from 5 years ago and it was 1 degrees in the morning!

Is it warm where you are? Do you think we’re in for a warm winter?

You can’t tell how winter will be from how warm it is in November.

Yes, it’s very mild here too in London.

Yellowdahlia12 · 14/11/2022 09:36

It doesn't seem right. I still haven't planted my spring bulbs as it's not cold enough. I don't know if it's a freak year, or climate change.

TTCorHouseReno · 14/11/2022 09:38

It's weird, lately I have been cycling home from work in the pitch black at 5pm but with just a t shirt on

Justnosing · 14/11/2022 09:44

I’m in the north but coming to London again next week - don’t know why I thought it might be colder down south and didn’t even occur to me to check fgs. Best change my outfit plans! How dopey of me

Hoping not climate change! I must admit I’ve enjoyed not having that bitter feeling outside. And i’m also glad for those that are choosing between heating and eating this year that it’s not exceptionally cold yet 🙁

Crazy! I too have been doing the school run without a jacket. There just doesn’t seem to be any sort of a chill!

Of course it’s climate change related!

however I believe the current position of the gulf stream - not necessarily climate change related - has something to do with it too. At some point it will shift.

I recall at uni in the late nineties going to firework shows- so around the 5th - and shivering despite wearing hats and gloves.
I’ve not even worn a hat for the last few and certainly haven’t shivered.

imagine a similar pattern all over the world and what it will mean for all the harvests of the stuff we eat. Most people are pretty blasé …. Why?

HumourReplacementTherapy · 14/11/2022 10:17

Foggy and 11° here but still warmer than it would usually be.
Given it still cost £50 in utilities last week according to our IHD i'm shortsightedly grateful.

Zrt · 14/11/2022 10:19

I'm making the most of it since I'm forced to forego heating this year.

ChiefWiggumsBoy · 14/11/2022 14:11

Yep, husband and I were commenting how the heating isn't even coming on as it's not cold enough! We're in the NW.

Dartmoorcheffy · 14/11/2022 14:14

I've still got flowering nasturtium, fuschia and roses in the garden, and we had new blossom on the apple tree last week. Driving over dartmoor yesterday and it was 18 degrees which is bizarre, on my Facebook memories of this time 3 years and it was snowing.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/11/2022 14:17

8c here today. It's grey and damp.

EcoCustard · 14/11/2022 15:11

I remember a few very warm days in November in 2014, I was heavily pregnant and walking my dogs in a t-shirt. It snowed that Christmas.

Just a tee shirt?

FourChimneys · 14/11/2022 15:25

Much as it is good for the heating bills it is climate change.

It could be a disaster next year f the plants and trees get out of synch with pollinating insects.

junglejane66 · 14/11/2022 15:20

Just a tee shirt?

Imagine the chafing!

Brieeeeeeeee · 14/11/2022 15:28

Buds are out in the park, and I have some bulbs in a paper bag (neighbour gave them to me) which are sprouting already. Quite glad that I’ve not finished the garden planting yet as I don’t have a lot of time so if I can get sorted before the proper frost arrives.

It is weird though. Definitely climate change. I don’t like it.

Lochjeda · 14/11/2022 15:36

It was 17 here in South West Scotland the last few days. Today its 12, grey and wet.

RustyBear · 14/11/2022 15:46

There was a record of 22.3 degrees in Wales on Armistice Day in 2015, so this isn't the warmest UK November. And the forecast is for it to start getting colder this week - more like the normal 10-12° C

junglejane66 · 14/11/2022 15:20

Just a tee shirt?

It’s warm but not that warm Wink

A580Hojas · 14/11/2022 17:37

I don't know if it's to do with climate change or not but I distinctly remember my Dad taking his t shirt off when he was gardening cos he was too hot and he said to me "it's not often this hot in November". This was in about 1972.

Ninananna · 14/11/2022 17:43

I have a delphinium just flowering in my garden. I am grateful for the higher temperatures because of the cost of energy but am also concerned about climate change.

x2boys · 14/11/2022 17:46
