Nursery or not - 3 yr old with high temp at night but no other symptoms

DD is just 3 and for the past two nights has had a high temperature at night (I haven't taken it tbh but it is definitely high- about 38 degrees I estimate). She has no other symptoms, no cough, no cold, she says nothing hurts. She is eating and drinking absolutely fine and is fine during the day - we went to a winter Wonderland event today and she was laughing happily on all the rides. Would you send her to nursery or not?

Take temp with a thermometer and if over 38 then no nursery, they wouldn't be allowed in if you were honest.

If not 38 or over it's fine.

I would take her temperature, but I have stupidly left my only thermometer at my dad's house where we were staying a few days ago :(

So if her temperature goes down in the morning before nursery (it went down this morning, so I'm thinking it probably will again) do you think I should send her?

Most nurseries policy is she'd be allowed to return 24 hours AFTER her temp returned to normal.

I work in a nursery Wink

Personally I have a 3 year old daughter and I'd just take the day off, I know it's difficult with finances/work commitments etc but it's likely you'll be called to collect her anyway if her temperatures changing! Plenty of fluids and a stay at home until it's returned to normal! Flowers

Are you giving her calpol?

So no temp during the day, absolutely fine in herself, no symptoms of any bug? I'd send her in tbh.

Are you sure it's a temperature and she's not just overdressed for bed or something and feeling hot because of that? If you haven't actually taken her temp with a thermometer.

Is she feeling unwell overnight? Just wondering how else you’d be aware that she’s got a temperature in the night? If she actually does have a temperature (I’m also wondering if she’s just a bit hot in the absence of any actual signs of illness) then I would keep her at home.
