Received parcel that isn't mine

It's got our address on but someone else's name. DH accepted it without even looking at the name on it. I've tried so far- asking our local spotted page to see if anyone is missing it
Messaging the only person of that name (it's very unusual) on Facebook but no reply yet. There is no sender details I've opened the parcel to look as well. Nothing on the Evri label and I've tried desperately to contact their live chat but it's a stupid automated system that won't take me through to a person- does anyone else have any ideas?

Return to sender, not at this address.

Be careful it isn’t one of these sort of scams

Return to sender, not at this address.

There is no sender that's the whole dilemma

No it's a low value item but still somebody else will be looking for it

Do you happen to know who lived at your address before you? Sometimes online ordering auto-corrects to an address you lived at previously, as dd found out the other day. The address box automatically populated itself with her student digs address in London, and she left there in 2017. Good job she spotted it in time.

WeDontNeedToTalkAboutJamie · 13/11/2022 12:25

We had this happen a few weeks ago.

I posted on our street WhatsApp and almost as soon as I'd pressed send a very embarrassed teenager turned up. He'd clicked the wrong house number on the drop down menu but the delivery notification told him where it was so he was on his way before I'd even sent the message.
Poor lad was so embarrassed even though it was a genuine mistake. Had he not turned up I'd probably have kept it for a week or so and then sent it back.
We did know where it was from though.

hesbeingabitofadick · 13/11/2022 13:25

Chuck it under the stairs/in the shed and forget about it.

Poke your DH so he remembers to check it's his/your surname before accepting another parcel.

purplewolfie · 13/11/2022 13:30

Is there a postcode? Someone posted on fb this morning that a parcel had been delivered to the same number/ street name in the same town but not the right one!
West Midlands.

We've lived here since 2006 and the surname isn't the same
It has our full address and postcode on
The woman with the same name I found on Facebook doesn't appear to have anything in common with me ie any local likes pages groups friends
It's really annoying now as I don't want to get done for fraud of a play mobile police station 😅

There's not another address of our name in the uk

I would pop into your local Evri parcel shop and ask if they can get it returned to sender.

But how can they if there's no return address anywhere?

OP posts:
maximist · 13/11/2022 14:06

The tracking should show the sender when they scan it - not necessarily at the shop, but back at the depot I'm sure they'd be able to. Whether they'd bother sending it back is another matter....

FatToFitPart3 · 13/11/2022 14:06

It will have a tracking code/barcode on the label.

workiskillingme · 13/11/2022 14:10

I see there is a live chat option but not open today (typically) I will message them tomorrow and ask them to come and collect it

FatToFitPart3 · 13/11/2022 14:12

If it’s a low value item it might be a brushing scam, so no one ordered it, they send cheap shit out to boost “sales” and therefore their product profiles and may post fake reviews.

Sorry to revive this thread but would you be able to PM me the name OP?
For the past 3 days in a row I have received parcels to my address with a very unusual name on. I can’t find the person locally and they haven’t ever lived in this house from what I can gather. They’re small enough to fit through my door and have arrived while I’m working so I can’t refuse them.
I opened the first as I was expecting a parcel and didn’t even bother the read the address and there was 4 tea light candles. The second day I had a feel and it feels like two mini bath bombs and today I have two other small parcels that I can’t make out. I’m just worried it’s some sort of scam, thought I don’t know what
