Hotels near Manchester Airport station, on foot.

Please does anyone know if there is a reasonably priced hotel at Manchester Airport that you can get to safely, on foot, from Manchester Airport Station?

I'll be arriving at the station by train (unsurprisingly Smile) and want to be able to get to a hotel safely on foot and then pick up the airport shuttle bus from the hotel in the morning to get me to the terminal.

Any local folks who can help me with this? Or anyone who has done the same journey who can recommend a hotel, please?

The Radisson has direct access through internal walkways. It’s the most convenient Manchester airport hotel. Although reasonably priced depends on your idea of reasonably priced! It’s worth taking a look.

Thanks @MummyJ12 I think the Radisson seems the best option in terms of what I'm looking for but I was hoping someone would come along with a suggestion that about half the price of the Radisson Grin, it may well be the one I end up going for though, just as it seems the simplest.

The Crowne Plaza is an option but the Radisson is the closest.

The Clayton or Double Tree Hilton. Clayton has a free shuttle bus from the station to the hotel so no need to walk.

Thanks @Mercurial123 and @SecretVictoria. I'll check the Crowne Plaza and the Clayton out. A shuttle bus would be a good option. Really grateful for these suggestions too.

Radisson is nice and close but was very expensive when I looked

Doubletree is good and has a shuttle bus available. Is also walkable

The hotels near the airport are quite pricey. Have you tried hotels in Manchester city centre so you can get the train from Manchester Piccadilly ? It's only about 20 mins on train

Soontobe60 · 12/11/2022 21:03

Clayton Hotel is reasonably near and will pick you up and drop you back in their shuttle bus.

Do Not under any circumstances go for the Britania airport Hotel is cheap for a reason just read the reviews.
There is new Ibis Hotel which is cheaper than others which is actually on site I think it is open now.
All terminals are accessible through the skyway bridge around a ten minute walk to terminal 2 from station and 5 minutes to terminal 1

I have stayed in a few of the airport hotels in the past for work. The Radisson would definitely be my vote as they seem to have better sound proofing than the others and there is no noise whatsoever from the airport. The Clayton/Crowne Plaza/Hilton can be noisy imo, depending where your room is located.

How negotiable is the on foot? I always just go for the runger lane premier inns. You know exactly what you’re getting and prices are often sub £50. Taxi in either direction no more than £10.

I recently stayed at the Premier Inn Runger lane (North) . I walked from the train station, all on pavement and took exactly 26 minutes . Next morning I paid for the shuttle which was £4.50. I didn’t mind the walk but I did travel on my own and work hand luggage. Cost my £79, both Clayton and Radisson were £200!!

User129867588 · 12/11/2022 21:48

I meant *with hand luggage only

Thanks everyone. Loads of useful insight on this thread. I specified on foot purely because it meant that I didn't have to be concerned if there was a long wait for taxis or a lonely bus stop etc. Plus I want somewhere accessible from the station but also accessible to the airport shuttle busses etc. I'm working my way through the suggestions. The Ibis looks like a good option at the moment as supposedly 9 mins walk from station and 11 minutes walk from terminal 2. Thanks again for all the help.

We did exactly this and stayed at the Doubletree by Hilton. It's a very short walk from the station. In the morning we walked back to the station and used the covered walkway to T2. Much less stressful than waiting for a shuttle.

@Mercurial123 Thanks, that link is really useful.
