I don't have a son, but at a similar age, I loved watching Stand by Me

Watched this and ET & Bill & Ted with him ☺️

Signs and sixth sense are horror so will depend on his taste! Blindside and Lost King are more of the feel good type!

Jungle Cruise
Airplane
Naked Gun
The Mask
Ace Ventura
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids

We watched a few of the early Adam Sandler films, Big Daddy, Happy Gilmore, Click which he enjoyed.

Another vote for "Hunt for the Wilderpeople"
Here's the trailer:

My recently-14 year old is really interested in WW2 and loved The Darkest Hour. His favourite film is the original Italian Job. He also likes old B&W war movies, the Dam Busters etc

Just a different take

gogohmm · 12/11/2022 08:50

Old 50's horror films are a great option, they are not frightening at all but instead my kids found them hilarious.

Back to the future, top gun, great escape, Bridge over the river Kwai... what are his interests?

I do highly recommend Hidden Figures for boys and girls, true story around the moon landings, my DD's loved it and one is now an engineer partly inspired by it

grapehyacinthisactuallyblue · 12/11/2022 08:51

The Martian here too. And most of Matt Damon films.

The Martian. The single most successful movie we ever watched with ds.

Same. Now DS's favourite film.

noblegiraffe · 12/11/2022 09:15

DS recently loved Bill and Ted, Back to the Future trilogy, The Martian, Hunger Games and Groundhog Day.

ItWasntMyFault · 12/11/2022 09:35

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (it's a 15 but extremely mild)

Nadal · 12/11/2022 09:37

Ready Player One

PuppyMonkey · 12/11/2022 09:42

Have got DDs but at this age they enjoyed:

Shawshank
Armageddon
Life of Brian and Holy Grail
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
Pan’s Labyrinth
Singin’ in the Rain (it’s really funny)

FolornLawn · 12/11/2022 09:45

Zombieland and Zombieland 2 are both fabulous, v funny.

Rainbowqueeen · 12/11/2022 09:53

Not what you asked but if he ever wants a book to read Project Hail Mary is by the author of The Martian and is a truly amazing book.

Movies-

The fugitive
Hunt for red october
Speed

noblegiraffe · 12/11/2022 09:59

Pan’s Labyrinth

I found this a very difficult watch as an adult with some horrific scenes of violence so I’d not recommend this one (it’s a 15 but they had to justify why not an 18).

seething1234 · 12/11/2022 09:59

We watched All Quite on the Western Front last week, DS who is 12 was blown away by it, but it's certainly not light hearted.

The Young Guns films were great, Top Gun, Beyond Enemy Lines
